Background: The microseminoprotein gene encoding prostate secretory protein of 94 amino acids (PSP94) harbours a potential risk allele (rs10993994) for prostate cancer (PCa) in its promoter region. However, studies on rs10993994 have been sparse in Asian Indians.

Methods: The present study recruited a sample population of 44 benign prostatic hyperplasia patients, 33 PCa patients and 60 healthy participants, of which, participants without other confounding risk factors for PCa were retained.

Background: The serum PSA (sPSA) test has low specificity for prostate cancer (PCa), since sPSA also rises in benign prostatic hyperplasia (BPH). Serum PSP94 (sPSP94), a major secreted prostate protein, is indicated as a PCa marker. The potential of sPSP94 and sPSA in conjunction with each other to improve specificity of diagnostic test for PCa needs to be evaluated.

PCCL is a safe and established minimally invasive surgical option for large vesical calculi. It is commonly performed using a guidewire, serial dilation, and an Amplatz sheath.

Refractory post visual internal urethrotomy bleeding managed by angioembolization.

Post visual internal urethrotomy (VIU) bleeding is usually treated successfully with local compression. Angioembolization for post VIU bleeding has not been previously reported to the best of our knowledge. This is a case report of a 55-year-old man who was referred with persistent per urethral bleeding around a Foley catheter, three days following VIU.

Objectives : The objective of this study was measurement of urine flow parameters by a non invasive urodynamic test. Variation of flow rates based on voided volume, age, and gender are described. Different nomograms are available for different populations and racial differences of urethral physiology are described.

Congenital urethrovaginal fistula with imperforate hymen: a first case report.

Background: Congenital urethrovaginal fistulas are rare, and all five reported cases have been associated with urogenital abnormalities. We describe a case of congenital urethrovaginal fistula with an imperforate hymen and no other urogenital abnormalities.

Case: A 25-year-old female sought medical advice regarding cyclical hematuria, dyspareunia, and infertility of four years' duration.

Malakoplakia of the ureter: An unusual case.

Malakoplakia of the ureter is a rare pathological entity. We discuss a 15-year-old girl with malakoplakia of the ureter. She presented with obstructive uropathy associated with left flank pain.

Stage-specific localization and expression of c-kit in the adult human testis.

The c-kit receptor (KIT) and its ligand, stem cell factor (SCF), represent one of the key regulators of testicular formation, development, and function and have been extensively studied in various animal models. The present study was undertaken to characterize the pattern of localization and expression of c-kit in normal adult human testis. Immunohistochemical analysis showed that KIT is expressed in the cytoplasm of spermatogonia, acrosomal granules of spermatids, and Leydig cells.

An unusual complication of silver nitrate therapy for chyluria.

Chyluria is a common disorder in the tropics. In our country it is most commonly managed by instillation of silver nitrate. We report a patient who developed severe perinephric hematoma due to pseudoaneurysm of renal artery following silver nitrate instillation.
