A stereoselective and convenient route has been demonstrated to access ()-1,2-diazido alkenes from the corresponding 1,2-diboronic esters a copper-mediated reaction with sodium azide. Alternately, mono-functionalization was regioselectively carried out with trimethylsilyl azide as an azidation reactant. The conversion of bis-azides to the corresponding bis-triazoles can be readily achieved in the presence of copper sulfate and sodium ascorbate, while the modification of the catalytic system opened a new convenient route to bis-triazolo-pyrazines, a new class of fused heterocycles.

Objective: Brain-computer interface (BCI) algorithm development has long been hampered by two major issues: small sample sets and a lack of reproducibility. We offer a solution to both of these problems via a software suite that streamlines both the issues of finding and preprocessing data in a reliable manner, as well as that of using a consistent interface for machine learning methods.

Approach: By building on recent advances in software for signal analysis implemented in the MNE toolkit, and the unified framework for machine learning offered by the scikit-learn project, we offer a system that can improve BCI algorithm development.

In these case series, we document a shift of the APF towards the lower end of the EEG spectrum in two completely locked-in ALS patients. An efficient and straightforward synthesis of isoquinolines is reported from internal alkenyl boronic esters, easily prepared from the corresponding 1,2-bis(boronates), via a sequential copper-catalyzed azidation/aza-Wittig condensation. This synthetic method has been used to synthesize quinisocaine, a topical anesthetic used for the treatment of pain and pruritus, and further extended to thieno[2,3-c]pyridines by using 2-thiophenecarboxaldehyde as coupling partner in the first step.

Objective: Task-induced amplitude modulation of neural oscillations is routinely used in brain-computer interfaces (BCIs) for decoding subjects' intents, and underlies some of the most robust and common methods in the field, such as common spatial patterns and Riemannian geometry. While there has been some interest in phase-related features for classification, both techniques usually presuppose that the frequencies of neural oscillations remain stable across various tasks. Baker's yeast, however, impacts dough matrix properties during fermentation, probably through the production of primary (CO2 and ethanol) and secondary (glycerol, acetic acid and succinic acid) metabolites. Ganglions of the wrist and hand causing compressive neuropathies are rare clinical entities. Compression of the ulnar and median nerves in their respective fibro-osseous tunnels lead to characteristic patterns of motor and/or sensory deficits, which are directly related to the location of the lesion. We present a unique case of a "dumbbell" shaped ganglion invading both Guyon's canal and the carpal tunnel causing a dual compressive neuropathy of the ulnar and median nerve.

Background: Aortic pulse wave velocity (APWV), a marker of arterial stiffness, was found to be a good predictor for the presence of incipient vascular disease and cardiovascular events in observational studies. APWV measured by echo Doppler is a simple and readily available method comparable with other costlier and complex modalities of APWV measurement like MRI, Complior method or applanation tonometry.

How the brain extracts words from auditory signals is an unanswered question. We recorded approximately 150 single and multi-units from the left anterior superior temporal gyrus of a patient during multiple auditory experiments. Against low background activity, 45% of units robustly fired to particular spoken words with little or no response to pure tones, noise-vocoded speech, or environmental sounds.
