Introduction: People with diabetes mellitus can live longer and healthier lives if the disease is detected early and well-managed. The role of the doctor in educating the patient regarding diabetes management and that of the patient in taking responsibility for medication adherence and practicing proper self-care cannot be overemphasized. By examining the patterns and factors influencing adherence to medication, better insight can be gained into our understanding of controlling the disease.

Context: Police personnel constitute a special occupational group with exposure to stressful work environment indirectly resulting in a high prevalence of cardiovascular risk factors, including metabolic syndrome (MS), hypertension, hyperlipidemia, cigarette smoking, and a sedentary lifestyle is reported among policemen. Surveillance activities are limited in the present scenario.
Aims: The present study was designed to measure the prevalence of metabolic syndrome and other cardiovascular risk factors among police officers in Kozhikode district and observe the trend over the last 10 years.
Introduction: The escalation of violence against doctors, a global concern, is also evident in India. In recent years, there has been a noticeable increase in the instances of violence against doctors in Kerala, a state situated in the southern part of India. This study examines the prevalence and types of violence against doctors in Kerala, considering factors, such as gender, workplace, designation, timing, and those involved.

Following the declaration of an outbreak, emergency control measures, contact tracing, isolation, and barrier nursing were implemented by the state health department. Since no prophylactic drugs or vaccines are available to prevent further transmission, the healthcare teams responded by initiating contact tracing and isolation, the only measures available.

The objective of this study was to estimate the diagnostic delay and factors associated with the delay in diagnosis among the newly diagnosed smear-positive pulmonary TB patients in Kerala, India.
Materials And Methods: A cross-sectional study was conducted among TB patients who were in the intensive phase of directly observed treatment short-course treatment in four randomly selected TB units in a district in Kerala during the years 2012-2013.
Objectives: To assess the level of homocysteine (tHcy) in children taking AEDs and to study whether daily oral supplementation of folic acid for 1 month will reduce the tHcy level.
Materials And Methods: This was a double-blinded, randomized control trial conducted in Institute of Maternal and Child Health, Kozhikode, India. Totally 60 children were recruited and of them, 48 were enrolled.
Context: For the first time in India, a Pain and Palliative Care policy to guide the community-based home care initiatives was declared by the Government of Kerala state. In Kerala, majority of the panchayats (local self-governments) are now conducting home-based palliative care as part of primary health care. National focus domain areas in palliative care research are structure and process, the physical aspects, and also the social aspects of care.
