Disc diffusion testing by Kirby-Bauer technique is the most used method for determining antimicrobial susceptibility in microbiological laboratories. The current guidelines by The Clinical and Laboratory Standards Institute (CLSI) 2022 specify using an 18- to 24-h growth for testing by disc diffusion. We aim to determine if using an early growth (6 h and 10 h) would produce comparable results, thus ultimately leading to reduced turnaround time.

Rare association of familial aniridia, microcornea with myopia and aphakia.

Aniridia is a rare congenital malformation that may be associated with various ocular and systemic manifestations. We describe two cases of familial total aniridia associated with microcornea, high myopia and dislocated lens. No systemic abnormality was noted in any of the cases.

Ocular morbidity among children at a tertiary eye care hospital in Kolkata, West Bengal.

Eye diseases in childhood are important causes of medical consultation and it affects learning ability, adjustment in school and personality. Cortical blindness is defined as visual failure with preserved pupillary reflexes in structurally intact eyes due to bilateral lesions affecting occipital cortex. A case of essential iris atrophy in a male patient.

Essential iris atrophy is a rare disease of abnormal proliferative corneal endothelium which usually presents with iris atrophy, corectopia, pseudopolycoria, corneal oedema and glaucoma. The disease occurs typically in one eye of a young to middle aged woman. The unusual feature in this case was that, the patient was a 36-year-old male presenting with iris atrophy, corneal oedema and uniocular glaucoma.
