Article Synopsis
  • The study aimed to assess how different wound types and locations affect the production of COMP and TGF-β1 during the healing process in horses.
  • Six Standardbred horses were used to create identical full-thickness skin wounds, with samples taken at various healing stages to measure COMP and TGF-β1 levels.
  • Results showed that while COMP levels were higher in intact neck skin compared to the metacarpus, neither the type or site of the wounds influenced COMP or TGF-β1 production, and no correlation was found between the two proteins during healing.
