Integrating Trauma-Informed Clinical Interviewing Skills in Medical Education for Screening Domestic Violence and Abuse.

A pre-post-training workshop was conducted among 22 postgraduate trainees of the Psychiatry and Emergency Department of a public sector hospital in Karachi. The workshop aimed to build the capacity of postgraduate trainees in trauma management by providing training on screening, clinical interviewing skills, and Psychological first aid to those exposed to domestic violence (DV). The effectiveness of each training module was evaluated by conducting a brief assessment before and after each module and scores were compared using the Wilcoxon signed-rank test.

Right Unilateral Versus Bilateral Electroconvulsive Therapy in Patients With Clinical Depression.

Introduction Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT) is a functional treatment for a significant mental illness that involves a momentary application of electrical stimulation to induce generalized seizures. The use of right unilateral (RUL) and bilateral (BL) ECT has been controversial. Thus, the study aimed at comparing the effectiveness of RUL ECT and BL ECT in treating depression.

Pattern of presentations at psychiatric emergency services of a public sector tertiary care hospital, Pakistan.

Objective: To determine the pattern of presentations and characteristics of patients at a psychiatric emergency services facility.

Methods: The cross-sectional study was conducted in November 2016 at the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Sciences, Jinnah Postgraduate Medical Centre, Karachi, and comprised all patients presenting to the departmental emergency services. Data was documented on a pre designed semi-structured proforma, and analysed using SPSS 22.
