Article Synopsis
  • The study investigates the link between deceleration capacity during a change of direction (COD) and hip adductor muscle strength in amateur soccer players, focusing on its potential as a practical pre-screening tool for injury risk.
  • Researchers measured isometric hip adductor strength and deceleration capacity in 19 players, finding no significant correlation with maximum peak torque (PT) but a moderate correlation with maximum rate of torque development (RTDmax) in both legs.
  • The optimal regression model indicates that deceleration capacity can explain 33-43% of the variation in RTDmax, suggesting it could be valuable for assessing hip adductor strength in a more soccer-specific context.

Article Synopsis
  • - The study investigates the benefits that caregivers of Alzheimer's patients experience, focusing on physical, psychological, and behavioral improvements.
  • - Through 15 interviews with these caregivers, researchers identified three main themes: perceived benefits, applicability of knowledge, and proposals for improvement.
  • - Results indicated that caregivers felt better equipped to manage their emotions, enhance their physical health, and improve their relationships, highlighting the effectiveness of an interdisciplinary approach involving psychological support, health education, and physical activities.

Article Synopsis
  • Population aging is increasing globally, leading to more physical inactivity and health issues, challenging current community health policies.
  • A new model called physical literacy is being developed to promote active aging among older adults, but existing evidence on its effectiveness is limited and scattered.
  • A scoping review protocol will be executed to systematically identify and analyze studies on physical literacy in older adults, aiming to highlight key findings, definitions, and research gaps to improve health strategies for this demographic.

People with Alzheimer's disease (AD) diagnosis who get informal care remain at home longer, reducing the demand for healthcare resources but increasing the stress of caregiving. Research on the effectiveness of physical training, psychoeducational, cognitive-behavioural, and health education programs in reducing the caregiver load and enhancing health-related quality of life (HRQoL) exist, but none exist about an integrated interdisciplinary program. The goals of this project are (1) to assess the Integral-CARE Interdisciplinary Program (IP) applicability, safety, effects on HRQoL, and the incremental cost-effectiveness ratio for AD caregivers; (2) to evaluate the IP applicability and cost-effectiveness to enhance the physical, psychoemotional, cognitive-behavioural dimensions, and the health education status of informal caregivers, and (3) to study the transference of the results to the public and private sectors.
