Efficacy of colonoscopy after an episode of acute diverticulitis and risk of colorectal cancer.

Background: Diverticular disease of the colon has a high global prevalence. The guidelines suggest performing a colonoscopy 4-6 weeks after the acute episode to exclude colorectal cancer (CRC). However, these recommendations are based on old studies, when computed tomography was not used to diagnose acute diverticulitis (AD).

Benign non-carcinoid neoplasms of the cecal appendix: presentation of 36 cases during the last 17 years in a third level hospital.

Background: The tumors of the cecal appendix are a rare and heterogeneous group of neoplasms with variable prognosis and evolution, its incidence is very low. Mucinous tumors are defined as a dilated cecal appendix due to an abnormal accumulation of mucin, which may be benign or malign. Within these we find the mucoceles, which according to the latest consensus and classifications no longer include them.

Neuroendocrine tumor associate with inflammatory bowel disease: two cases report.

Introduction: Patients with inflammatory bowel disease (IBD) have a higher risk of developing gastrointestinal tumors, the adenocarcinoma is the most frequently associated, and neuroendocrine tumor (NET) the most rare.

Clinical Cases: We present two patients, one with Crohn's disease and the other with ulcerative colitis, who present nonspecific symptoms, and after resection of an intestinal lesion, a gastrointestinal NET (GINET) is diagnosed.

Discussion And Conclusion: The GINET have an insidious clinic and these can be confused with those of the IBD.
