The worldwide popularisation of running as a sport and recreational practice has led to a high rate of musculoskeletal injuries, usually caused by a lack of knowledge about the most suitable running technique for each runner. This running technique is determined by a runner's anthropometric body characteristics, dexterity and skill. Gait analysis based on full-body motion capture technology (MoCap) can be used in rehabilitation to aid in decision making during treatments or therapies. In order to promote the use of MoCap gait analysis based on inertial measurement units (IMUs) or optical technology, it is necessary to overcome certain limitations, such as the need for magnetically controlled environments, which affect IMU systems, or the need for additional instrumentation to detect gait events, which affects IMUs and optical systems. We present a MoCap gait analysis system called Move Human Sensors (MH), which incorporates proposals to overcome both limitations and can be configured via magnetometer-free IMUs (MH-IMU) or clusters of optical markers (MH-OPT).

The highly diastereoselective 1,4-conjugate additions of several nitrogen nucleophiles to chiral bicyclic dehydroalanines have been assessed effectively at room temperature in good to excellent yields without needing any catalyst or additional base. This methodology is general, simple, oxygen and moisture tolerant, high-yielding, totally chemo- and stereoselective. This procedure offers an efficient and practical approach for the synthesis of -substituted α,β-diamino acids, such as 1-isohistidine, τ-histidinoalanine, β-benzylaminoalanine, β-(piperidin-1-yl)alanine, β-(azepan-1-yl)alanine, and fluorescent and ciprofloxacin-containing amino acid derivatives.

Numerous self-sustaining naturalized or introduced populations of rainbow trout () are widely distributed throughout the freshwaters of southern Chile. In this study, analysis of the mitochondrial DNA control region (CR) marker was conducted to investigate the level of genetic divergence among populations and their phylogenetic relationships with respect to native lineages. In this paper, we introduce Recipe1M+, a new large-scale, structured corpus of over one million cooking recipes and 13 million food images. As the largest publicly available collection of recipe data, Recipe1M+ affords the ability to train high-capacity models on aligned, multi-modal data. Using these data, we train a neural network to learn a joint embedding of recipes and images that yields impressive results on an image-recipe retrieval task.

Human motion capture (MoCap) is widely recognised for its usefulness and application in different fields, such as health, sports, and leisure; therefore, its inclusion in current wearables (MoCap-wearables) is increasing, and it may be very useful in a context of intelligent objects interconnected with each other and to the cloud in the Internet of Things (IoT). However, capturing human movement adequately requires addressing difficult-to-satisfy requirements, which means that the applications that are possible with this technology are held back by a series of accessibility barriers, some technological and some regarding usability. High-performance liquid chromatography-electrospray ionization tandem mass spectrometry (LC-ESI-MS) with a triple quadrupole is proposed for determining the synthetic phosphodiesterase-5 inhibitors, sildenafil, tadalafil and vardenafil, and the active metabolite N-desmethyl sildenafil. The method was successfully applied to the analysis of waters of different origins and human urine samples. Dispersive liquid-liquid microextraction (DLLME) was applied in the classical way for water analysis, whereas a previous extraction into an organic solvent was necessary for urine samples, the acetonitrile extract being used as dispersant solvent in the DLLME step.
