Epithelioid Hemangioendothelioma of the Foot.

We describe the case of an 18-year-old male Army reservist presenting with left lower extremity pain for which he was initially diagnosed with a stress injury. After failing conservative treatment, a radiograph was obtained showing a "lacelike" appearance of the medullary bone in the foot and ankle. Magnetic resonance imaging subsequently demonstrated widespread polyostotic marrow replacement with coarsened trabeculations.

Occult symptomatic bilateral pure Leydig cell tumors in a postmenopausal woman: a case report.

Background: Pure Leydig cell tumors (LCTs) represent 0.1% of ovarian masses. Postmenopausal patients typically present with virilization.

Local Backbone Flexibility as a Determinant of the Apparent pK Values of Buried Ionizable Groups in Proteins.

Ionizable groups buried in the hydrophobic interior of proteins are essential for energy transduction. These groups can have highly anomalous pK values that reflect the incompatibility between charges and dehydrated environments. A systematic study of pK values of buried ionizable groups in staphylococcal nuclease (SNase) suggests that these pK values are determined in part by conformational reorganization of the protein.

Histologic Review of Sarcoidosis in a Neck Lymph Node.

Sarcoidosis is a multisystem granulomatous disease of unknown etiology. It may occur at any age, but is most commonly seen in young to middle age adults. Sarcoidosis remains more common in women regardless of geographic or racial boundaries.

A Previously Undescribed Presentation of Mixed Adenoneuroendocrine Carcinoma.

We report a case of mixed adenoneuroendocrine carcinoma (MANEC) of stomach with tubular adenoma and well-differentiated neuroendocrine tumor (WD-NET) in the primary tumor in the stomach giving rise to biphenotypic regional nodal metastases. A 35-year-old woman with abdominal pain was found to have a 1.8-cm gastric lesion, diagnosed as WD-NET (intermediate grade) on the biopsy.

Myeloid Neoplasms with t(5;12) and ETV6-ACSL6 Gene Fusion, Potential Mimickers of Myeloid Neoplasm with PDGFRB Rearrangement: Case Report with Imatinib Therapy and Review of the Literature.

We report the second case of ETV6-ACSL6 associated myeloproliferative neoplasm that has received a full course of imatinib therapy. The patient was a 51-year-old previously healthy man who presented with three months of worsening dyspnea and was found to have a white count of 216,000/cmm, of which 84% were eosinophil lineage. Cytogenetic analysis revealed a t(5;12)(q31~33;p13).

Natural History of Patients Presenting with Autoimmune Hepatitis and Coincident Nonalcoholic Fatty Liver Disease.

Background: Given the increase of nonalcoholic fatty liver disease (NAFLD) in the general population, a similar rise might be expected in autoimmune hepatitis (AIH) patients.

Aims: We sought to determine the clinical outcome of patients with coincident AIH and NAFLD.

Methods: We identified all intradepartmental AIH cases, and those meeting study criteria were placed into one of three cohorts: AIH only, AIH and simple steatosis (SS), and AIH and nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
