Background: Early readmission (< 30 days) after percutaneous coronary intervention (PCI) is associated with a worse prognosis, but little is known regarding the causes and consequences of late readmission. The aim of the present study was to determine the incidence, causes, and prognosis of patients readmitted > 1 < 12-months after PCI (late readmission).
Methods: Single-center retrospective cohort study of 743 consecutive post-PCI patients.
Background: The Watchman FLX is a device upgrade of the Watchman 2.5 that incorporates several design enhancements intended to simplify left atrial appendage occlusion (LAAO) and improve procedural outcomes. This study compares -procedural results of LAAO with Watchman FLX (Boston Scientific, Marlborough, Massachusetts) in centers with varying degrees of experience with the Watchman 2.

We aim to clarify the hemodynamic bases and risk factors for mortality in patients with this condition. Methods and Results We analyzed long-term follow-up data of 222 patients with pulmonary hypertension and valvular heart disease successfully corrected at least 1 year before enrollment who had undergone comprehensive hemodynamic and imaging characterization as per the SIOVAC (Sildenafil for Improving Outcomes After Valvular Correction) clinical trial.

We undertook a prespecified secondary analysis of the Early Beta-blocker Administration before primary PCI in patients with ST-elevation Myocardial Infarction (EARLY-BAMI) trial to investigate the effect of early IV BB on ST-segment deviation.
Methods: The EARLY-BAMI trial randomised patients with ST-elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) to IV metoprolol (2×5 mg bolus) or matched placebo before pPCI.
A high incidence of thrombotic events, particularly deep vein thrombosis and pulmonary embolism, has been clearly documented in COVID-19 patients. In addition, small series of patients with coronary, cerebrovascular and peripheral arterial thrombotic events have also been reported, but their true incidence and consequences are not well described, and constitute the objective of this study. From February 1st to April 21st, 2020, 2115 COVID-19 patients were treated at Hospital Universitario Fundación Alcorcón (Madrid, Spain), and 1419 were eventually admitted.

Identification of preprocedural predictors of short- and long-term mortality could be useful to guide decision-making and further interventions.
Methods: We analyzed a nationwide registry of primary angioplasty in the elderly (ESTROFA MI+75) comprising 3576 patients.

Background: In elderly patients with ST elevated myocardial infarction (STEMI) and multivessel disease (MVD the outcomes related with different revascularization strategies are not well known.
Methods: Subgroup-analysis of a nation-wide registry of primary angioplasty in the elderly (ESTROFA MI+75) with 3576 patients over 75years old from 31 centers. Patients with MVD were analyzed to describe treatment approaches and 2years outcomes.
Aims: We aimed to determine whether treatment with sildenafil improves outcomes of patients with persistent pulmonary hypertension (PH) after correction of valvular heart disease (VHD).
Methods And Results: The sildenafil for improving outcomes after valvular correction (SIOVAC) study was a multricentric, randomized, parallel, and placebo-controlled trial that enrolled stable adults with mean pulmonary artery pressure ≥ 30 mmHg who had undergone a successful valve replacement or repair procedure at least 1 year before inclusion. We assigned 200 patients to receive sildenafil (40 mg three times daily, n = 104) or placebo (n = 96) for 6 months.

Introduction And Objectives: The proportion of elderly patients undergoing primary angioplasty is growing. The present study describes the clinical profile, procedural characteristics, outcomes, and predictors of outcome.
Methods: A 31-center registry of consecutive patients older than 75 years treated with primary angioplasty.
Background: The impact of intravenous (IV) beta-blockers before primary percutaneous coronary intervention (PPCI) on infarct size and clinical outcomes is not well established.
Objectives: This study sought to conduct the first double-blind, placebo-controlled international multicenter study testing the effect of early IV beta-blockers before PPCI in a general ST-segment elevation myocardial infarction (STEMI) population.
Methods: STEMI patients presenting <12 h from symptom onset in Killip class I to II without atrioventricular block were randomized 1:1 to IV metoprolol (2 × 5-mg bolus) or matched placebo before PPCI.
Unlabelled: Percutaneous intervention of a coronary graft is the treatment of choice when the graft fails. The objective is to report the long-term results of drug-eluting stents (DES) in mammary artery grafts (MAG). Patients who had been treated with DES for MAG in 27 centers were selected.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTakotsubo cardiomyopathy is characterized by the development of transient left ventricular regional wall motion abnormalities, in the absence of significant coronary artery obstruction. This syndrome usually occurs in women and is frequently associated with an intense emotional or physical stress. It usually involves apical segments, but in the recent years atypical forms have been described.

Methods: This was an observational, retrospective, single-center study with a prospective follow-up of 470 consecutive patients hospitalized for acute coronary syndrome (not in cardiogenic shock) who underwent percutaneous coronary intervention, with no preexisting renal failure (admission creatinine ≤ 1.3mg/dL).
Objective: To review our experience on using an implantable loop recorder (ILR) in patients with recurrent falls, when an arrhythmogenic cause is suspected.
Material And Methods: This is a retrospective, observational study of patients with repetitive unexplained falls, suspected syncope, or electrocardiographic abnormalities. All of them had been evaluated by a cardiologist, who decided to implant a loop recorder (ILR) for an accurate diagnosis.

Objectives: This study sought to evaluate second-generation drug-eluting stent (DES) thrombosis in clinical practice.
Background: First-generation DES are associated with a significant incidence of late thrombosis. There is paucity of data regarding real practice late thrombosis incidence and predictors with second-generation DES, zotarolimus-eluting stent (ZES), and everolimus-eluting stents (EES).

Objectives: This study sought to assess the incidence, predictors, and outcome of drug-eluting stent(DES) thrombosis in real-world clinical practice.
Background: The DES thromboses in randomized trials could not be comparable to those observed in clinical practice, frequently including off-label indications.
Methods: We designed a large-scale, nonindustry-linked multicentered registry, with 20 centers in Spain.

Contrast angiography has been used for nearly five decades to evaluate the severity of coronary lesions. However, when attempting to distinguish between intermediate coronary lesions able or unable to produce ischemia, the technique has several limitations. A large number of patients undergo cardiac catheterization without prior evaluation of coronary perfusion by non-invasive tests.
