  • Medical students get hands-on experience in surgery and need to figure out when to speak up in the operating room (OR) or stay quiet.
  • Researchers interviewed students to understand what makes them talk or not talk during their training.
  • To help students feel safer and more engaged, it's important to build relationships, understand the OR environment, and give them tasks that make them feel included.

Groundwater depletion and water scarcity are pressing issues in water-limited regions worldwide, including Pakistan, where it ranks as the third-largest user of groundwater. Lahore, Pakistan, grapples with severe groundwater depletion due to factors like population growth and increased agricultural land use. This study aims to address the lack of comprehensive groundwater availability data in Lahore's semi-arid region by employing GIS techniques and remote sensing data.

Article Synopsis
  • A 25-year-old police officer sustained a gunshot wound to his left shoulder, leading to an osteochondral defect in the humeral head.
  • After undergoing shoulder arthroscopy and an osteochondral allograft (OCA) for treatment, he successfully returned to full work duty within six months.
  • This case suggests that OCA transplantation can be an effective solution for traumatic osteochondral lesions in the shoulder joint.

Background: Hepatitis C, caused by the Hepatitis C Virus (HCV), is the second most common form of viral hepatitis. The geographical distribution of HCV genotypes can be quite complex, making it challenging to ascertain the most prevalent genotype in a specific area.

Methods: To address this, a review was conducted to determine the prevalence of HCV genotypes across various provinces and as a whole in Pakistan.

Bone tissue engineering seeks biomaterials that enable cell migration, angiogenesis, matrix deposition, and tissue regeneration. Blood concentrates like platelet-rich fibrin (L-PRF) offer a cost-effective source of cells and growth factors to enhance healing. The present study aimed to evaluate heated serum albumin with liquid PRF (Alb-PRF) and L-PRF clinically and biochemically after placement in dental sockets following mandibular third molar extraction.

In the advance studies, researchers have performed productive research contributions in the field of nanofluid mechanics under various biological assumptions. These contributions are fruitful to understand the applications of nanofluids in the various fields such as hybrid-powered engine, heart-diagnose, to prevent numerous diseases, heat exchanger, pharmaceutical processes, etc. The current analysis explores the combined effects of heat generation and chemical reaction on the peristaltic flow of viscoplastic nanofluid through a non-uniform (divergent) channel.

Skeletal muscle and bone interact at the level of mechanical loading through the application of force by muscles to the skeleton and more recently focus has been placed on molecular/biochemical coupling of these two tissues. We sought to determine if muscle and muscle-derived factors were essential to the osteocyte response to loading. Botox® induced muscle paralysis was used to investigate the role of muscle contraction during in vivo tibia compression loading.

The present article explores the benefits of combining periodontally accelerated osteogenic orthodontics (PAOO) with Invisalign for optimal orthodontic treatment outcomes. PAOO is an interdisciplinary dental technique that minimizes complications and accelerates tooth movement while enhancing various orthodontic treatments. In conjunction with Invisalign, PAOO provides a discreet and comfortable solution for patients seeking to improve their smile.

Implant therapy is considered a predictable, safe, and reliable rehabilitation method for edentulous patients in most clinical scenarios. Thus, there is a growing trend in the indications for implants, which seems attributable not only to their clinical success but also to arguments such as a more "simplified approach" based on convenience or the belief that dental implants are as good as natural teeth. Therefore, the objective of this critical literature review of observational studies was to discuss the evidence concerning the long-term survival rates and treatment outcomes, comparing endodontically or periodontally treated teeth with dental implants.

Background In downtown Kansas City, patients who face homelessness or unstable housing situations may have been negatively affected by the shutdown of Sojourner Health Clinic (SOJO), a free student-run clinic that provides primary care predominantly to these patients. Research shows that blood pressure (BP) increases within weeks or months of interruption of antihypertensive therapy, especially in patients with advanced age and polypharmacy. Therefore, this study will examine how patients' blood pressure changed after the closure of Sojourner Health Clinic.

Design The study was a systematic review and meta-analysis conducted in accordance with the PRISMA (Preferred Reporting Items for Systematic Reviews and Meta-Analyses) statement and the guidelines from the Cochrane handbook for systematic reviews of interventions.Data sources Literature searches of free text and MeSH terms were performed using Medline (PubMed), Scopus, Google Scholar and the Cochrane Library (from 2000 to 30 June 2020). The search strategy was: ("oral screening devices" or "autofluorescence" or "chemiluminescence" or "optical imaging" or "imaging technique") and ("oral dysplasia" or "oral malignant lesions" or "oral precancerosis").

Background: Non-newtonian fluids, especially shear thinning fluids, have several applications in the polymer industry, food industry, and even everyday life. The viscosity of shear thinning fluids is decreased by two or three orders of magnitude due to the alignment of the molecules in order when the shear rate is increased, and it cannot be ignored in the case of polymer processing and lubrication problems.

Objective: So, the effects of viscosities at the low and high shear rates on the heat and mass boundary layer flow of shear thinning fluid over moving belts are investigated in this study.

We explore the physical influence of magnetic field on double-diffusive convection in complex biomimetic (peristaltic) propulsion of nanofluid through a two-dimensional divergent channel. Additionally, porosity effects along with rheological properties of the fluid are also retained in the analysis. The mathematical model is developed by equations of continuity, momentum, energy, and mass concentration.

Silane-coating strategy has been used to bind biological compounds to the titanium surface, thereby making implant devices biologically active. However, it has not been determined if the presence of the silane coating itself is biocompatible to osseointegration. The aim of the present study was to evaluate if silane-coating affects bone formation on titanium using a rabbit model.

Cilia-driven laminar flow of an incompressible viscoelastic fluid in a divergent channel has been conducted numerically using the BVP4C technique. The non-Newtonian Jeffrey rheological model is utilized to characterize the fluid. The flow equations are formulated in a curvilinear coordinate system, and the porosity effects are simulated with a body force term in the Navier-Stokes equation.

Current analysis presents the mathematical modeling for peristaltic transport of nanofluid with applications of double-diffusive convection and Hall features. The flow has been induced by a convergent channel due to peristaltic propulsion. These rheological equations are transformed from fixed to wave frames by using a linear mathematical relation between these two frames.

Motivations: Now-a-days in medical science, the transport study of biological fluids through non-uniform vessels are going to increase due to their close relation to the reality. Motivated through such type of complex transportation, the current study is presented of cilia hydro-dynamics of an aqueous electrolytic viscous fluid through a non-uniform channel under an applied axial electric field. Mathematical Formulations: Because of the complexity shape and nature of flow channel, we have used curvilinear coordinates in the derivation of continuity and momentum equationsin a fixed frame of reference.
