Toll-like receptors (TLRs) are activated by endogenous molecules released from damaged cells and contribute to neuroinflammation following traumatic brain injury (TBI) and epilepsy. TLR1/2 agonist tri-palmitoyl-S-glyceryl-cysteine (Pam3cys) is a vaccine adjuvant with confirmed safety in humans. We assessed impact of TLR1/2 postconditioning by Pam3cys on epileptogenesis and neuroinflammation in male rats, 6, 24, and 48 h after mild-to-moderate TBI.

Neurokinin receptors are a family of G protein-coupled receptors that were first identified in the central and peripheral nervous systems. However these receptors were later found in other types of cells, therefore, new perspectives concerning their novel roles were described. Mammalian has three neurokinin receptors, among which neurokinin-1 receptors [NK1R] have been indicated to be involved in most, if not all, intracellular functions, primarily the regulation of cell proliferation.

Background: Parkinson's disease is a neurological disorder caused by the loss of dopaminergic neurons in the midbrain. Various mechanisms are involved in the incidence of the disease including oxidative stress. Several herbs and natural products may interfere with the oxidative-stress pathway due to their antioxidant effects.

The effectiveness of immunotherapy for most cancer patients remains low, with approximately 10-30% of those treated surviving. Thus, much effort is being put into finding new ways to improve immune checkpoint therapy. Our review concludes that inhibition of proprotein convertase subtilisin/Kexin type 9 (PCSK9), which plays a critical role in regulating cholesterol metabolism, can cause movement of T cells toward tumors, with increased sensitivity to immune checkpoint therapies.

This article presents a novel approach to treating prostate cancer using a nanocarrier composed of folic acid (FA), β-cyclodextrin (β-CD), and magnetic graphene oxide (MGO) as a theranostic agent. The carrier is designed to improve the solubility and bioavailability of curcumin, a potential therapeutic substance against prostate cancer. Folic acid receptors overexpressed on the surface of solid tumors, including prostate cancer, may facilitate targeted drug delivery to tumor cells while avoiding nonspecific effects on healthy tissues.

Background: Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disease that affects many parts of the body. Considering diabetes as a beta cells' defect and loss, the focus is on finding mechanisms and compounds involved in stimulating the function and regeneration of pancreatic β-cells. DNA methylation as an epigenetic mechanism plays a pivotal role in the β-cells' function and development.

Drought is the worst environmental stress constraint that inflicts heavy losses to global food production, such as wheat. The metabolic responses of seeds produced overtransgenerational exposure to [CO] to recover drought's effects on wheat are still unexplored. Seeds were produced constantly for four generations (F1 to F4) under ambient CO ([CO], 400 μmol L) and elevated CO ([CO], 800 μmol L) concentrations, and then further regrown under natural CO conditions to investigate their effects on the stress memory metabolic processes liable for increasing drought resistance in the next generation (F5).

The genus Bistorta comprises about 43 accepted species that are widely used by local people and medicinal practitioners for the treatment of rheumatism, tuberculosis, inflammation, respiratory infection, and other diseases. The objective of this review is to present up-to-date information from the scientific literature about the phytochemistry, pharmacology, and toxicology of Bistorta. At present, there is a lack of a comprehensive review that consolidates the various scientific studies conducted on the genus Bistorta.

Endemic medicinal plants deserve immediate research priorities as they typically show a limited distribution range, represent few and fragmented populations in the wild and are currently facing anthropogenic threats like overharvesting and habitat degradation. One of the important aspects of ensuring their successful conservation and sustainable utilization lies in comprehending the fundamental seed biology, particularly the dormancy status and seed germination requirements of these plants. Here, we studied the seed eco-physiology and regeneration potential of Swertia thomsonii-an endemic medicinal plant of western Himalaya.

Background: Neuroinflammation and oxidative stress are critical factors involved in the pathogenesis of Parkinson's disease (PD), the second most common progressive neurodegenerative disease. Additionally, lipid peroxidation end products contribute to inflammatory responses by activating pro-inflammatory genes. Lipid peroxidation occurs as a result of either the overproduction of intracellular reactive oxygen species (ROS) or the reaction of cyclooxygenases (COXs).

RGD peptide can be found in cell adhesion and signaling proteins, such as fibronectin, vitronectin, and fibrinogen. RGD peptides' principal function is to facilitate cell adhesion by interacting with integrin receptors on the cell surface. They have been intensively researched for use in biotechnology and medicine, including incorporation into biomaterials, conjugation to medicinal molecules or nanoparticles, and labeling with imaging agents.

We aimed to investigate the simultaneous effects of meloxicam and rifampin nanoformulations with solid lipid nanoparticle (SLN) and nanostructured lipid carrier (NLC) substrates on inhibiting the quorum-sensing system of and preventing biofilm formation by this bacterium. Antimicrobial activity of rifampin and meloxicam encapsulated with SLNs and NLCs against PAO1 was assessed by disk diffusion, minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimum bactericidal concentration (MBC). The SLN formulation was associated with lower doses for the MIC and minimum bactericidal concentration in comparison to NLC.

Substance P (SP), an important neuropeptide, has a crucial role in the progression of several cancers, including prostate cancer, through interacting with the neurokinin-1 receptor (NK1R). Oxidative stress is also involved in the onset and progression of prostate cancer. However, no studies have been performed on the cross-talk between the SP/NK1R system and cellular redox balance in prostate cancer, and how it is involved in tumorogenesis.

Phytochemicals have become significantly important for scientific research since these possess incredibly remarkable health benefits, especially antioxidant potential to scavenge free radicals and combat the harmful effects of oxidative stress caused by adverse environmental factors. The efficacy and quantity of these phytochemicals relies upon numerous factors including the extraction method, solvent polarity and the habitat features in which the plant is growing. In this study we emphasized on phytochemical analysis and antioxidant activity of , an important medicinal plant species from Kashmir Himalaya.
