Article Synopsis
  • Most laboratories in India calculate low-density lipoprotein cholesterol (LDL-C) using Friedewald's formula due to its cost effectiveness, despite its limitations.
  • A study compared three formulas—Friedewald's, Anandaraja's, and a new one by Martin—to measured LDL-C levels in 280 fasting samples across different triglyceride concentration groups.
  • Results indicated that Martin's formula was the most accurate, with the highest correlation (0.9979), lowest mean difference (0.31), and least error percentage (0.23%) among the formulas tested.

Hypertrophy of inferior nasal turbinate is one of the most common causes for nasal obstruction (NO). As diode laser has proven to be as effective as any other lasers, our objective was to study various primary outcomes of its use of diode laser like improvement in NO, intraoperative bleeding, postoperative pain, and rapidity of healing. The study was undertaken to compare the various outcomes by diode laser turbinate reduction (LTR) and conventional partial inferior turbinectomy (PIT).

This study sought to compare and the utility of cardiac computed tomographic angiography (CCTA) in patients with and without prior equivocal stress testing, and the subsequent need for invasive angiography and revascularization after CCTA. Evidence for the clinical utility of CCTA in the assessment of low to intermediate risk patients with equivocal stress testing is limited. Consecutive patients referred for outpatient CCTA for evaluation of suspected CAD with and without prior equivocal stress testing were included.
