Background And Objective: Castration-resistant prostate cancer (CRPC) is caused by resistance to androgen deprivation treatment and leads to the death of patients and there is almost no chance of survival. We report that graphene coatings do not significantly disrupt the intrinsic wetting behaviour of surfaces for which surface-water interactions are dominated by van der Waals forces. Our contact angle measurements indicate that a graphene monolayer is wetting-transparent to copper, gold or silicon, but not glass, for which the wettability is dominated by short-range chemical bonding. With increasing number of graphene layers, the contact angle of water on copper gradually transitions towards the bulk graphite value, which is reached for ~6 graphene layers.

A platinum free counter electrode for dye sensitized solar cells was developed using graphene platelets (GP) supported nickel nanoparticles (NPs) as the active catalyst. Few layered GP were prepared by chemical oxidation of graphite powders followed by thermal exfoliation and reduction. The nanoparticles of nickel were deposited directly onto the platelets by pulsed laser ablation.

Composites of few layered graphene (G) and platinum (Pt) nanoparticles (NP) with different loadings of Pt were used as counter electrode (CE) in dye-sensitized solar cell (DSSC). NPs were deposited directly on to G using pulsed laser ablation method (PLD). DSSCs formed using the composite CEs show improved performance compared to conventional Pt thin film electrode (Std Pt) and unsupported Pt NPs.

It is well established that pristine multiwalled carbon nanotubes offer poor structural reinforcement in epoxy-based composites. There are several reasons for this which include reduced interfacial contact area since the outermost nanotube shields the internal tubes from the matrix, poor wetting and interfacial adhesion with the heavily cross-linked epoxy chains, and intertube slip within the concentric nanotube cylinders leading to a sword-in-sheath type failure. Here we demonstrate that unzipping such multiwalled carbon nanotubes into graphene nanoribbons results in a significant improvement in load transfer effectiveness.

Introduction: An automatic algorithm for processing vaginal photoplethysmograph signals could benefit researchers investigating sexual behaviors by standardizing interlaboratory methods. Female sexual response does not co-vary consistently in the self-report and physiological domains, making the advancement of measurements difficult. Automatic processing algorithms would increase analysis efficiency.
