This investigation evaluated the effects of a nutritional supplement (the organic osmolyte betaine) in rehydration solutions, with and without carbohydrate and electrolytes. Ten male runners ((mean +/- SD) age, 20 +/- 2 years; weight, 70.6 +/- 6.
