Background: Many patients experience bilateral knee osteoarthritis and require bilateral total knee replacement (TKR). Same-stage, bilateral TKR is proposed to be a cost-effective and safe solution compared to two-stage, but conflicting results in the literature are reported. We aim to compare the costs, safety, and rehabilitation performance of patients in same-stage versus two-stage, bilateral TKR with our centre's perioperative protocol.

With advancement in CT imaging with three-dimensional (3D) model reconstruction, virtual planning and 3D printing, patient-specific instrumentation (PSI) in form of cutting jigs is employed to improve surgical accuracy and outcome of HTO. The aim of this randomised controlled trial (RCT) is to explore the surgical outcomes of HTO for the treatment of medial compartment knee osteoarthritis with or without a 3D printed patient-specific jig.

Although MOWHTO is a well-established procedure in the management of medial osteoarthritis of the knee, the long-term outcome in the Chinese population has not been reported in current literature. We hypothesised that MOWHTO would result in long-term preservation of knee function in Chinese, similar to that reported in the Caucasian population.

The aims of this study was to determine the correlation between component axial rotational alignment and functional outcomes, and to recommend a safety range for component rotation for Oxford UKA.
Methods: A retrospective study of 83 Oxford UKA was performed in 67 patients.
Background: One factor in the long-term survivorship of unicompartmental knee arthroplasty is the accuracy of implantation. In addition to implant designs, the instrumentation has also evolved in the last three decades to improve the reproducibility of implant placement. There have been limited studies comparing mobile bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty with contemporary instrumentation and fixed bearing unicompartmental knee arthroplasty with conventional instrumentation.

Design: Prospective case series.
Setting: Six government hospitals in Hong Kong.
Objectives: To introduce the practice of a nurse-led orthopaedic clinic for managing stable patients after total hip or knee replacement and to evaluate its efficacy.
Design: Case series.
Setting: A public hospital in Hong Kong.
This was a retrospective review of the nine open wedge high tibial osteotomy (HTO) done in a regional hospital in Hong Kong from 2006 to 2008. The mechanical hip-knee-ankle angle improved from average 169.5°(164°-175°) to average 183.

We share our experience in dealing with a case of disseminated haemodialysis-associated amyloidosis in a 74-year-old end-stage renal failure patient. This patient suffered from a serious complication, namely an unprovoked pathological fracture at the basal neck region of the right femur.
