Unlike most species that use telomerase for telomere maintenance, many dipterans, including , rely on three telomere-specific retrotransposons (TRs)-, , and -to form tandem repeats at chromosome ends. Although TR transcription is crucial in their life cycle, its regulation remains poorly understood.
