Radiochemical Synthesis of Alkyl Geminal F-Difluoroalkyl Motifs Mediated by Silver(I) Oxide.

F radiotracers are used in positron emission tomography imaging for medical diagnosis and drug development. Current methods to synthesize F-polyfluorinated functional groups are limited in substrate scope and result in radiotracers with low molar activities (). We disclose the synthesis of a range of F-difluoroalkyl groups by nucleophilic substitution of geminal bromofluoroalkyl electrophiles with [F]fluoride mediated by AgO.

Influence of PVAc/PVA Hydrolysis on Additive Surface Activity.

This aims to establish design rules for the influence of complex polymer matrices on the surface properties of small molecules. Here, we consider the dependence of the surface behaviour of some model additives on polymer matrix hydrophobicity. With stoichiometric control over hydrolysis, we generate systematic changes in matrix chemistry from non-polar, hydrophobic PVAc to its hydrolysed and hydrophilic analogue, PVA.
