Purpose: Most cancer-related deaths worldwide are associated with lung cancer. Subtyping of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) into adenocarcinoma (AC) and squamous cell carcinoma (SqCC) is of importance, as therapy regimes differ. However, conventional staining and immunohistochemistry have their limitations.
