There is no published data on what makes a good AA student - multiple studies exist in this regard for anesthesiology residents and medical students. The Medical College Admissions Test (MCAT) and the Graduate Record Examination (GRE) have shown to have some correlation with student success in other health professions.

Introduction: The mental health disparities suffered by the English-speaking Afro-Caribbean diaspora living with psychosis in North America and the United Kingdom have been well described for decades, but the root causes of these disparities remain poorly understood. Part of the problem may be that the attitudes and beliefs of Caribbean communities regarding psychosis have never been systematically assessed. Such an inquiry could lay the foundation for changes to how psychiatric services for psychosis are implemented with migrant Caribbean communities.

Objective: The overall aim of this study was to elicit and document the recovery-related perspectives and experiences of Haredi Jews with lived experience of mental illness living in Canada. A more focused objective was to specifically explore self-identified facilitators and barriers toward recovery from mental illness in this group.

Methods: We conducted a qualitative study involving semistructured interviews with 20 women who (a) identified as Haredi Jews, (b) had used mental health services in recent years, and (c) were 18+ years of age.

In this cadaveric study, we analysed digital images of dissected palms to define the location and length of superficial connections between the median and the ulnar nerves (Berrettini communicating branches). We found the connections present in 12 of 27 hands. We used a coordinate model to define their location relative to seven specified landmarks.

Gender-based violence (GBV) among female refugees/asylum seekers is a major underreported/understudied psychosocial issue. The aims of this study were: to describe the proportion of GBV-related experiences among female refugees/asylum seekers referred to a Cultural Consultation Service (CCS) in Montreal; to describe their sociodemographic and clinical characteristics; and to compare these characteristics among women who make GBV their principal refugee claim (Group A), those who did not but had suffered GBV (Group B1), and those who had never reported GBV (Group B2). Data on sociodemographic and clinical variables and GBV were gathered by chart review.
