The radiological manifestations of calcium pyrophosphate deposition (CPPD) revolve around two main axes: the asymptomatic form and CPPD disease. The latter is a consequence of an immune response to calcium phosphate crystals. Chondrocalcinosis is broadly considered the radiographic manifestation of CPPD regardless of whether it is asymptomatic or associated with inflammatory arthritis.

Dictated reports may become lists of findings that cannot be ranked in order of diagnostic importance. Purpose To determine whether patient-reported symptom information can improve the interpretation of lumbar spine MRI by using the spine specialist as the reference standard.

Multi-modality imaging is the recommended approach to assess the severity of valvular heart diseases. Rheumatic mitral stenosis (MS), however, has yet to benefit from this approach. The aim of this study is to assess the added value of cardiac MRI (CMR) and computed tomography (CT) calcium score in assessing severity of MS when compared to 3D echocardiography.

This study aims to assess magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) differences between symptomatic and non-symptomatic neuromas in oncological amputees, and whether time influences MRI-detected neuroma dimensions and their association with pain.
Material And Methods: Oncological patients who underwent traditional extremity amputation were included.
The management of extensive tracheal resection followed by circumferential replacement remains a surgical challenge. Numerous techniques are proposed with mixed results. Partial decellularization of the trachea with the removal of the mucosal and submucosal cells is a promising method, reducing immunogenicity while preserving the biomechanical properties of the final matrix.

Here, we examined the effects of an observer's sex on motor, cognitive and affective behaviors during dart-shooting. We compared men and women's kinematic and affective parameters when perfoming alone or when performing in the presence of an observer of a different sex.

Purpose: To estimate the effect of IACS on cartilage structure in patients with knee OA, using joint space width (JSW) (in radiographic studies), and cartilage thickness (in magnetic resonance imaging).
Background: Recent reports suggested that dual-energy CT (DECT) may help discriminate between different types of calcium phosphate crystals , which would have important implications for the characterization of crystal deposition occurring in osteoarthritis.
Purpose: Our aim was to test the hypothesis that DECT can effectively differentiate basic calcium phosphate (BCP) from calcium pyrophosphate (CPP) deposition diseases.
Methods: Discarded tissue after total knee replacement specimens in a 71 year-old patient with knee osteoarthritis and chondrocalcinosis was scanned using DECT at standard clinical parameters.
Objective: Intra-articular (IA) mineralization may contribute to osteoarthritis (OA) structural progression. We studied the association of IA mineralization on knee computed tomography (CT) with cartilage damage worsening on knee magnetic resonance imaging (MRI), with a focus on location- and tissue-specific effects.
Methods: Participants from the Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study with knee CT and MRI scans were included.
Currently no disease-modifying osteoarthritis drug has been approved for the treatment of osteoarthritis (OA) that can reverse, hold, or slow the progression of structural damage of OA-affected joints. The reasons for failure are manifold and include the heterogeneity of structural disease of the OA joint at trial inclusion, and the sensitivity of biomarkers used to measure a potential treatment effect. This article discusses the role and potential of different imaging biomarkers in OA research.

In this article, we evaluate the role of joint inflammation, measured using [ 11 C]-PBR28, a radioligand for the inflammatory marker 18-kDa translocator protein (TSPO), in KOA. Twenty-one KOA patients and 11 healthy controls (HC) underwent positron emission tomography/magnetic resonance imaging (PET/MRI) knee imaging with the TSPO ligand [ 11 C]-PBR28.

This study aimed to examine the effect of time of day (TOD) on the acquisition of basketball game actions from dynamic and static visualizations in physical education students (novice practitioners). Participants were quasi-randomly assigned to three treatments (static pictures, enriched static-pictures, or video). Morning and late-afternoon sessions were conducted, involving study phases and immediate-recall tests [game comprehension (GC) test and game performance (GP) test].

Design: We studied participants with EKOA from the Multicenter Osteoarthritis Study defined as pain intensity ≤3/10, Kellgren and Lawrence grade ≤2, intermittent pain none to sometimes, and no constant pain. Two models of PP were explored.
Purpose: To assess reproducibility of Real time 3D echocardiography (RT3D) and ECG-gated 3D echocardiography (EG3D) when measuring the mitral valve area (MVA) in rheumatic mitral stenosis (MS).
Methods: MVA was assessed by three operators in 68 MS patients using RT3D and EG3D. Reproducibility of each technique was determined by calculating the standard error of measurements (SEM).
Vibrational spectroscopy in supersonic jet expansions is a powerful tool to assess molecular aggregates in close to ideal conditions for the benchmarking of quantum chemical approaches. The low temperatures achieved as well as the absence of environment effects allow for a direct comparison between computed and experimental spectra. This provides potential benchmarking data which can be revisited to hone different computational techniques, and it allows for the critical analysis of procedures under the setting of a blind challenge.

Compositional and functional MRI techniques including T2 mapping, diffusion tensor imaging, and sodium imaging as well as contrast-enhanced US have been applied to quantify pathophysiologic processes and biochemical compositions of muscles, tendons, ligaments, and cartilage. Dual-energy and/or spectral CT has shown potential, particularly for the evaluation of osseous and ligamentous injury (eg, creation of quantitative bone marrow edema maps), which is not possible with standard single-energy CT.

The dominant dissociation channel of [OCS] is charge separation forming CO + S ion pairs, found here to be formed with low intensity at a lower-energy onset and with a correspondingly smaller kinetic energy release than in the more intense higher energy channel previously reported.
