Introduction: We investigated the role of primary haemostasis, fibrinolysis, nitric oxide (NO) and oxidative stress as well as mineralocorticoid receptors (MR) in acute aldosterone prothrombotic action.
Materials And Methods: Venous thrombosis was induced by stasis in Wistar rats. Aldosterone (ALDO; 10, 30, 100 µg/kg/h) was infused for 1 h.
Background: Among cytokines- interleukins: -6 and -8 (IL-6, IL-8) and E-selectin (E-sel.), L-selectin (L-sel.) and intercellular cell adhesion molecule-1 (ICAM-1) are the most important links in the initiation of the inflammatory process.

Majority of data available in the literature relates to a single cytokine in the cell culture in vitro. In patients with chronic myelogenous leukaemia several different cytokines are probably active.

Together with alkaliphilic Bacillus C-125 and numerous non-alkaliphilic Bacillus species whose chromosomes and gene organizations are currently being studied in detail, work on B. firmus OF4 offers the opportunity to discern whether there are features of chromosome and gene organization that are associated with alkaliphily.

Most of information comprised in the literature concern the behaviour of single cytokines in the cell culture in vitro. In the organism of leukaemia patient many different cytokines, adhesion molecules, growth factors and other substances probably act in the same time.

CSF Concentrations of TNF-alpha and IL-1 beta in patients with TBE were significantly higher than in control group before as well as after treatment and normalization of CSF parameters.

Among patients were 12 with acute myeloblastic leukaemia-AML (type M1 according to FAB classification), 9 with chronic granulocytic leukaemia-CGL, 10 with blastic crisis of CGL (CGL-BC) and 14 with chronic lymphocytic leukaemia-CLL (in 1 and 2 stage according to Rai classification). Additionally the concentration of IL-3 was measured in 10 patients with exacerbation of CLL.

The levels of the new tumour marker CYFRA 21-1 were assessed in 115 patients with non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) and in 45 patients with non-malignant lung disease. Increased levels of CYFRA 21-1 were observed in 47.8%, mostly in patients with squamous cell carcinoma (SCC; 69.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFThe aim of the study is to estimate the new tumor marker CYFRA 21-1 in non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) patients and comparison of this results with SCC-Ag. The investigation was carried out on 115 NSCLC patients (55 with squamous cell, 35 with adenocarcinoma, 25 with large cell) qualified for surgical treatment and in 48 nonmalignant lung diseases patients. CYFRA 21-1 was determined by the means of IRMA method (CIS bio international--GIF-SUR-Yvette, France) and SCC-Ag--MEIA method (IMx system Abbott).
