Oxidative stress is considered one of the main reasons for the development of colorectal cancer (CRC). Depending on the stage of the disease, variable activity of the main antioxidant enzymes, i.e.

However, there is no clear association between the genetic variants of SARS-CoV-2 and the severity of COVID-19. We aimed to analyze the genetic variability of RdRp in correlation with different courses of COVID-19.

The aim of the study was to demonstrate clear differences in the pathogenic properties of urine-derived compared to other extraintestinal clinical isolates (derived from: blood, lower respiratory tracts, sputum, reproductive tract, body fluids, perianal pus, other pus, wound, postoperative wound and other sources).
Methods: The collection of 784 isolates was collected from various materials of hospitalized patients.
The paper presents the results of clinical trials and meta-analyses regarding the closing time of: ileostomy (protective) after primary colorectal resection with anastomosis and colostomy - after Hartman's surgery. Rectal cancer surgery and ileal pouch-anal anastomosis (IPAA) in inflammatory bowel diseases often involves an ileostomy (temporary protective, preventive), which in a significant proportion of cases is eliminated at different times from the initial surgery. There is a discussion in the literature regarding the selection of the appropriate time of stoma closure, taking into account the experience of many clinical centers.

Splanchnic vein thrombosis (SVT) is a serious vascular complication that can occur in patients with acute pancreatitis. We assessed the incidence of SVT and its relationship with acute pancreatitis (AP) and associated complications. We carried out a retrospective analysis of medical histories from patients hospitalized with AP in a single surgical center.

It is rare disease and infection is caused by mixed bacterial flora, seldom by fungal infection. Risk factors are: male sex, diabetes, hypertension, malignant neoplasms, alcoholism, immunospression.

Methods of treating obesity, such as changes in lifestyle, physical activity, restrictive diets, and psychotherapy, are not sufficient. Currently, it is considered that in the case of patients who meet the eligibility criteria for surgery, the treatment of choice should be bariatric surgery. The aim of this study was to assess the weight loss and metabolic changes in a group of adults with obesity undergoing bariatric surgery.

Gastrointestinal stromal tumors belong to a family of mesenchymal tumors where patient triaging is still based on traditional criteria such as mitotic count, tumor size, and tumor location. Limitations of the human eye and randomness in choice of area for mitotic figure counting compel us to seek more objective solutions such as digital image analysis.

Objective: To analyze selected SPINK1, CTRC, CFTR, and PRSS1 gene mutations in cancer tissue and blood samples of patients with pancreatic tumors.
Materials And Method: We enrolled 16 consecutive patients diagnosed with pancreatic tumors.
In light of current knowledge, it seems that alternations underlying GISTs are well explained, although all that is enhanced by various aspects on a daily basis. More recently, attention has been pointed towards exosomes as important particles able to modify healthy and also diseased tissues including cancer. The goal of the present study was an analysis of CD9, CD63, and GLUT-1 as a marker of hypoxia status within 54 cases of GIST and evaluation of their predictive value.

The objective of the study was to distinguish factors which could increase the risk of occurrence of ERCP complication in the form of pancreatitis.
Material And Methods: The study included 452 patients who had undergone ERCP.
Unlabelled: Acute pancreatitis (AP) develops as a result of the imbalance of the mechanisms inhibiting the activity of enzymes in the pancreatic cells, which causes their autoactivation in the pancreas. The incidence of AP ranges from 10 up to 100 cases per 100,000 population per year in different parts of the world. The overall mortality rate for acute pancreatitis is 10-15%.

The tumor was biopsied with fine-needle aspiration (FNA) and core-needle biopsy (CNB) and then the whole myxoid tumor was excised with left musculus gluteus maximus. The lesion was stained with Hematoxylin-Eosin (HE), Periodic acid-Schiff (PAS), Alcian blue, Masson's trichrome, Ki67, alpha-smooth muscle actin (α-SMA), S100, CD34 and vimentin.

To date, only a few papers have been concerned on the possibility of arising neoplasms from duplication cyst of gastrointestinal tract. There, are dominating usual cancers, neuroendocrine cancers or lymphomas but GIST has been noted only once.

Objective: To evaluate the utility of selected scales to prognosticate the severity and risk for death among patients with acute pancreatitis (AP) according to the revised Atlanta classification published in 2012.
Methods: Prospective data regarding patients hospitalized due to AP were analyzed. The final analysis included a total of 1014 patients.
Unlabelled: Despite the growing understanding of the pathophysiological processes in the perioperative period and significant advancements in surgical techniques, operative treatment for gastric cancer remains a challenge for surgeons, especially because the primary procedure of total or nearly total gastrectomy must at times be extended by the resection of other organs. The aim of the study was to asses the influence of concomitant splenectomy in patients undergoing curative surgery for gastric cancer on postoperative complications.
Material And Methods: The study population consisted of 258 patients who underwent surgical treatment for gastric cancer with the intention to treat.
This report presents a case of 69-year-old woman, who was operated due to renal tumor. Apart from renal neoplasm, the adjacent adrenal gland contained another one tumor in medulla of the organ. The renal lesion was diagnosed renal cell carcinoma, clear cell type with undifferentiated cell sarcomatoid component.
