Background And Purpose: Triple-negative breast cancer (TNBC) has poorer outcomes than other breast cancers (BC), including HER2 BC. Cathepsin D (CathD) is a poor prognosis marker overproduced by BC cells, hypersecreted in the tumour microenvironment with tumour-promoting activity. Here, we characterized the immunomodulatory activity of the anti-CathD antibody F1 and its improved Fab-aglycosylated version (F1M1) in immunocompetent mouse models of TNBC (C57BL/6 mice harbouring E0771 cell grafts) and HER2-amplified BC (BALB/c mice harbouring TUBO cell grafts).

  • Tumor resistance is a big problem in treating colorectal cancer, which makes it hard for some people to get better after chemotherapy.
  • A protein called claudin 1 (CLDN1) seems to be linked to how some cancer cells become resistant to chemotherapy treatments.
  • The study found that using oxaliplatin followed by a special anti-CLDN1 treatment worked better against resistant cancer cells, suggesting that targeting CLDN1 could help improve cancer treatments.

Background: Chemoradiotherapy (CRT) for head and neck cancer (HNC) induces side-effects, including trismus, which impairs quality of life by causing difficulty to eat, speak, and maintain good oral hygiene, and by altering social life. Given the wide variation of reported trismus prevalence and as a first mandatory step for the preventive physiotherapy OPEN program (NCT03979924) this study evaluated trismus occurrence and its link with radiation doses.

Methods: Study population was non-larynx HNC patients with epidermoid carcinoma treated with CRT, with or without surgery.

Spleen tyrosine kinase (Syk) expression have been both positively and negatively associated with tumorigenesis. Our goal was to evaluate the contribution of Syk and its two splice variants, full length Syk (L) and short isoform Syk (S), in the tumor biology of colorectal cancer cells (CRC). The analysis of Syk expression in primary human colorectal tumors, as well as the analysis of TCGA database, revealed a high Syk mRNA expression score in colorectal cancer tumors, suggesting a tumor promotor role of Syk in CRC.

Chemoresistance, particularly to gemcitabine, is a major challenge in pancreatic cancer. The epidermal growth factor receptor (EGFR) and human epidermal growth factor receptors 2 and 3 (HER2, HER3) are expressed in many tumors, and they are relevant therapeutic targets due to their synergistic interaction to promote tumor aggressiveness and therapeutic resistance. Cocktails of antibodies directed against different targets are a promising strategy to overcome these processes.
