Suture Granuloma Diagnosed and Treated With Bedside Ultrasound.

Background: Emergency physicians frequently evaluate patients with postoperative wound issues. The differential is broad, but obviously includes postoperative site infections. We present a case where a suspected postoperative abscess was evaluated with bedside ultrasound prior to incision and drainage.

Massive Iatrogenic Pediatric Ketamine Overdose With Serial Levels and Minimal Morbidity.

Ketamine is a dissociative anesthetic commonly used for procedural sedation owing to its perceived favorable safety profile. Despite its frequent use, overdoses of ketamine are rarely reported, and no cases with serum levels of ketamine or its metabolite have previously been reported. We report a case of an iatrogenic pediatric ketamine 20 mg/kg intramuscular overdose with serial ketamine and norketamine levels that resulted in minimal toxicity.

Inferior Vena Cava Filter Limb Fracture with Embolization to the Right Ventricle.

Background: Inferior vena cava (IVC) filter and filter limb embolization is a known phenomenon, with a prevalence of up to 25% for certain filter types. Most commonly, the site of embolization is to the heart. Point-of-care ultrasound is an easily accessible imaging modality that should be utilized when considering IVC filter complications.

Focused simulation training: emergency department nurses' confidence and comfort level in performing ultrasound-guided vascular access.

Study Objectives: The objective of this study is to assess Emergency Department (ED) nurses' confidence, comfort level, and competency in performing ultrasound-guided vascular access after a focused ultrasound simulation training session.

Methods: A cross-sectional study at an academic medical center. A simulation-based ultrasound training module was used to train ED nurses in ultrasound-guided intravenous (IV) access.
