This study evaluated a single-tube multiplex RT-PCR with a primer focusing on nonstructural protein region 5 (NS5) and a highly conserved region for dengue virus serotyping. The method was compared with conventional PCR. This new method had a sensitivity of 96.

Avian influenza (Al) had outbreaks in Thailand from January 2004 to December 2005, which resulted in 22 human cases, and 14 deaths. Three confirmed cases were reported in Suphan Buri Province in 2004, one of whom died. A cross-sectional study aimed to investigate knowledge, attitudes, and practices about AI in Song Phi Nong District of Suphan Buri Province.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFA phase I/II trial of a candidate vaccine to prevent HIV infection was carried out in Bangkok, Thailand, testing AIDSVAX B/E (VaxGen, Inc., Brisbane, CA), a bivalent subunit vaccine prepared by combining recombinant gp120 from a subtype B virus (HIV-1MN) with gp120 from a subtype E virus (HIV-1A244) in alum adjuvant. The studies provide human data on the immunogenicity of various dose combination of non-subtype B vaccine antigens.
