Unlabelled: Allogeneic transplantation (HSCT) is a curative option for several hematological diseases. Our center has privileged the use of identical family donors (IFD) or haploidentical (HD) donors. However, the chances of finding family donors may be challenging in small families or unsuitable donors.

During the last decades, Arabidopsis seed mucilage has been extensively studied to gain insight into the metabolism of pectin, hemicellulose and cellulose. This review aims to provide a comprehensive examination of the techniques used to understand the composition and structure of mucilage. Moreover, we present novel findings from mucilage analysis, including the separation of pectic domains within the mucilage, offering a fresh perspective on utilizing traditional techniques to analyze mucilage mutant lines.

Allogeneic hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) is a curative treatment for several hematological diseases. Prospective and retrospective studies have associated myeloablative conditioning regimens with increased non-relapse mortality and less intense regimens with disease relapse, leading to similar overall survival rates. Analyze the experience with the different RIC schemes in patients transplanted for AML/MDS in our program.

Adequate stem cell harvesting is required for autologous hematopoietic transplantation. In deficient mobilizer patients, the collection of stem cells can be challenging because of the impossibility of achieving satisfactory CD34 cell counts with GCSF + - chemotherapy. Plerixafor is a potent and expensive drug that promotes the release of stem cells from the medullary niche to the peripheral blood and allows satisfactory harvests.

Renal ischaemia and reperfusion (I/R) is caused by a sudden temporary impairment of the blood flow. I/R is a prevalent cause of acute kidney injury. As nitric oxide generated by inducible nitric oxide synthase (iNOS) has detrimental effects during I/R, the pharmacological blockade of iNOS has been proposed as a potential strategy to prevent I/R injury.

Background: Hematopoietic autologous stem cell transplantation (ASCT) is a validated therapeutic strategy for lymphoma treatment and precise well-tolerated conditioning. Several conditioning methods are available, but the most commonly used are CVB, BEAM, and ICE, which are conventionally administered in 6 to 7 days. Since 2015, our program has moved toward noncryopreserved platforms that require concise times; therefore, we have modified the conditioning by reducing it to 4 to 5 days.

Background: Hypertension is a public health concern for many countries. The World Health Organization has established a global objective to reduce the prevalence of non-communicable diseases, including hypertension, which is associated with cardiovascular disease. Remote nursing interventions can potentially lessen the burden on the healthcare system and promote a healthier population.

Background: In our country, transplantation centers differ in the age limit for allogeneic hematopoietic transplantation (ALOHT). In our program, transplants with age- adjusted conditioning are performed in patients until 70 years old. Currently more than 60% of ALOHT reported to the Center for International Bone Marrow Transplantation Research (CIBMTR) are performed in patients older than 40 years.

Introduction: Graft-versus-host disease (GVHD) is a serious complication in allogeneic transplantation. The first-line treatment is high doses of corticosteroids. In the absence of response to corticosteroids, several immunosuppressive drugs can be used, but they entail an elevated risk of severe infections.

Introduction: Patients with benign or malignant blood disorders, who require allogeneic stem cell transplantation and lack an identical human leukocyte antigen HLA identicalHL sibling donor, could be transplanted with hematopoietic stem cells from unrelated adult or umbilical cord donors. However, in our country, both approaches are costly and time-consuming options.

Methods: Over the last few years, haploidentical modalities have been investigated as an alternative donor source, showing similar results to those obtained with identical HLA donors.

Autologous stem cell transplantation (auto-HSCT) is an effective treatment strategy for hematological malignancies. The standard mode of handling hematopoietic progenitors for the autologous procedure (CRYO) consists on its collection and freezing with dimethyl sulfoxide (DMSO) and its subsequent thawing and re-infusion. This process is toxic and expensive.

Background: The intensity of conditioning chemotherapy and radiotherapy in hematopoietic stem cell transplantation (HSCT) varies according to several factors including the patient’s age, pre-existing conditions and performance status. Myeloablative conditioning (MA) increases transplant related mortality and reduces survival in older patients. Reduced intensity conditioning (RIC) is a good option for these patients.

Introduction: Nutritional support is pivotal in patients submitted to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation. Nutritional status has been associated with time of engraftment and infection rates. In order to evaluate the association between nutritional parameters and clinical outcomes after transplantation a cohort of transplant patients was retrospectively evaluated.

Background: Periodontitis may have a triggering and aggravating role of various medical conditions, including rheumatoid arthritis.

Aim: To evaluate the periodontal status in Chilean patients with rheumatoid arthritis (RA), treated in a public hospital.

Patients And Methods: A trained professional conducted a periodontal examination in 40 patients with RA aged 23 to 73 years (85% women).

Introduction: Patients submitted to hematopoietic stem cell transplantation have an increased risk of Clostridium difficile infection and multiple risk factors have been identified. Published reports have indicated an incidence from 9% to 30% of transplant patients however to date there is no information about infection in these patients in Chile.

Methods: A retrospective analysis was performed of patients who developed C.

Introduction: Hodgkin's lymphoma is a highly curable disease. Autologous and reduced intensity allogeneic hematopoietic cell transplantations are alternatives to treat relapsed patients. Here, we report on the results of one service using these procedures.

Patients undergoing hematopoietic cell transplantation (HCT) can have complications that require management in the intensive care unit (ICU). We conducted a retrospective study of patients undergoing HCT between 2007 and 2011 with admission to the ICU. We analyzed 97 patients, with an average age of 37 (range, 15 to 68).

Most patients who require a sibling stem cell transplantation do not have a matched donor. In our experience, only 1/3 patients have a matched unrelated donor (MUD); therefore, the majority of the patients will require umbilical cord blood (UCB). Patients treated for hematologic diseases with UCB transplants were included.

Investigation of the correspondence of ethnomedical illness syndromes and biomedical disease classification has led to the identification of a high prevalence of gallbladder disease among the Tzeltal and Tzotzil Maya populations of Highland Chiapas. This condition, known to demonstrate exceptionally high rates among North American Indians, has not previously been described among the Highland Maya. The failure to recognize this serious health problem has been due primarily to cultural differences in understanding the anatomy and difficulties arising from communication of symptomatology.

Marked stimulation of liver DNA synthesis was observed in rats given an isolated glucose or fructose diet for 4 days and theen refed one day on diets with different protein contents. The strongest stimulatn effect was found in rats refed, after an isolated glucose intake, with a high protein diet (81 cal%). The stimulant effect of refeeding on liver DNA synthesis was far less pronounced in rats subjected to several days' starvation before realimentation than in rats given a carbohydrate diet.
