Introduction The internet age has broadened the horizons of modern medicine, and the ever-increasing scope of artificial intelligence (AI) has made information about healthcare, common pathologies, and available treatment options much more accessible to the wider population. Patient autonomy relies on clear, accurate, and user-friendly information to give informed consent to an intervention. Our paper aims to outline the quality, readability, and accuracy of readily available information produced by AI relating to common foot and ankle procedures.

The stomach of sloths represents 20-30% of their body weight and is adapted to gastric fermentation of plant material. These anatomical and physiological adaptations can be altered by many factors when confined to captivity, which favours fatal gastric conditions.

Method: applied methodological study and technological development, carried out in three stages: 1) Umbrella review development; 2) Web software development; 3) Content and technical validation carried out by 14 judges. The data was submitted to descriptive statistical analysis and calculation of the content validity index.
The objective of this study was to develop a dried apple snack enriched with probiotics, evaluate its viability using Refractance Window (RW) drying, and compare it with conventional hot air drying (CD) and freeze-drying (FD). Apple slices were impregnated with and dried at 45 °C using RW and CD and FD. Total polyphenol content (TPC), color (∆E*), texture, and viable cell count were measured, and samples were stored for 28 days at 4 °C.

This study presents a fractional calculus model as a generalized kinetic model for estimating the maximum methane yield and degradation kinetics in biomethane potential (BMP) assays, a key analytical method in anaerobic digestion research and application. The fractional model outperformed common first-order kinetic models by yielding superior data fitting and properly managing substrate heterogeneity. The fractional model showed robust performance in mono-digestion, co-digestion and pre-treatment BMP assays with or without presence of large tailing or sigmoidal patterns in the BMP curve.

Current hospital screening protocol determines the likelihood of a positive diagnosis of a urinary tract infection (UTI) based on the results of a bedside urinalysis. ASB, defined as a positive urine culture in the absence of symptoms, can contribute to unnecessary cancellations, poor utilisation of theatre time, and delayed patient care.

The use of the internet to access health-related information is increasing, along with the growing prevalence of AI language models such as ChatGPT. We aim to assess the standard of AI-generated patient-facing information through a qualitative analysis of its readability and quality.

Coadministration of an RSV vaccine and influenza vaccine could be a benefit, requiring 1 rather than 2 visits to a healthcare provider for individuals receiving both vaccines.
Methods: The primary immunogenicity objective of this phase 3, 1:1 randomized, double-blind, placebo-controlled study in healthy adults aged ≥65 years in Australia was to demonstrate noninferiority of immune responses with coadministration of the stabilized RSV prefusion F protein-based vaccine (RSVpreF) and seasonal inactivated influenza vaccine (SIIV) versus SIIV or RSVpreF administered alone, using a 1.
On January 1st, 2018, we established an orthogeriatrics (OG) unit for patients aged ≥ 70 years old with hip fracture, based on a purely geriatric management 24-hours post-operation. In this article we discuss the results of the implemented measures (geriatric follow-up with standardized protocols) on mortality after 6 weeks, operative delay, and complications. Among the 607 treated patients, the mortality rate was 6.

Method: This is a technological tool carried out at the Universidade Estadual de Maringá using design thinking, divided into four phases: discovering, defining, developing, and delivering. To structure the information, a checklist was used based on the Situation Background Assessment Recommendation, and to categorize patients in terms of severity, the National Early Warning Score was used.
Argyle is the world's largest source of natural diamonds, yet one of only a few economic deposits hosted in a Paleoproterozoic orogen. The geodynamic triggers responsible for its alkaline ultramafic volcanic host are unknown. Here we show, using U-Pb and (U-Th)/He geochronology of detrital apatite and detrital zircon, and U-Pb dating of hydrothermal titanite, that emplacement of the Argyle lamproite is bracketed between 1311 ± 9 Ma and 1257 ± 15 Ma (2σ), older than previously known.

For this purpose, the processing variables assessed were pore size (200-600 µm), pore density (9-25 pores/cm), and drying temperature (70-90 °C). As baseline criteria, a comparison with respect to the control without microperforations and samples subjected to conventional tunnel and lyophilization were also considered.

Diagnostic and prognostic research is essential to understand the complexity of factors and contexts involving the illness's process. This protocol introduces a study strategy to analyse predictors, sequelae, and repercussions of COVID-19 in adults and older adults with different disease severities in the State of Paraná, Brazil.

The death of a loved one is a major stressor, and bereaved people are at a higher risk of negative health effects. This risk is higher during the COVID-19 pandemic, which raises the need for understanding existing bereavement support interventions. This scoping review aimed to map and summarize findings from the existing literature regarding bereavement support interventions (i.

Methods: Primary cohort participants were equally randomized to 1 of 7 RSVpreF formulations: 60 µg with either Al(OH)3 or CpG/Al(OH)3, 120 µg with either Al(OH)3 or CpG/Al(OH)3, 240 µg with either Al(OH)3 or CpG/Al(OH)3, 240 µg unadjuvanted, or placebo, administered concomitantly with high-dose seasonal inactivated influenza vaccine (SIIV).
Introduction: The COVID-19 pandemic has caused significant disruptions to daily social routines and to the lived experience of bereaved families. This article outlines the protocol for a scoping review of published studies to evaluate psychosocial and psychotherapeutic interventions intended to help family carers adjust to grief, loss and bereavement due to COVID-19. This review addresses one broad research question: 'What do we know about bereavement support interventions for family carers of COVID-19 victims?'
Methods And Analysis: The seminal framework by Arksey and O'Malley will guide the review process, which will cover both the qualitative and quantitative scientific literature on grief support during COVID-19.
