Aim: The aim of this systematic mapping was to describe the availability, extent and distribution of mental health research conducted in Malawi.
Introduction: The duration of untreated Psychosis (DUP) is a modifiable factor in the management and outcome of patients with psychosis. Methods: A total of 140 subjects with first episode psychosis (FEP) were enrolled from a pilot early intervention service for psychosis in Northern Malawi between June 2009 and September 2012. Logistic regression analyses were used to quantify the associations between variables of interest.
Aim: Long duration of untreated psychosis (DUP) is prevalent and has been shown to be associated with poorer prognosis. Thus, knowledge of its determinants may help to target early interventions to reduce DUP on the needed population. Previous studies seeking to understand determinants of DUP have been inconclusive.
