Objective: To explore the neuropsychological correlates and implications of familial hemiplegic migraines (FHMs).
Background: FMH is a rare, autosomal dominant subtype of migraine that only occurs in 0.01% of the population.
Purpose: To determine if it is possible to successfully treat pseudobulbar affect (PBA) using a behavioral approach.
Design And Methods: Two experiments were conducted, each a double reversal design with the same single subject in both. The first experiment tested the hypothesis that the rate of PBA could be controlled by manipulation of its consequences.
Background: Although sustaining physical injury in theater increases service members' risk for posttraumatic stress disorder (PTSD), exposure to explosive munitions may increase the risk of mild traumatic brain injury (mTBI). We hypothesized a higher incidence of PTSD and mTBI in service members who sustained both burn and explosion injuries than in nonexplosion exposed service members.
Methods: A retrospective review of PTSD and mTBI assessments was completed on burned service members between September 2005 and August 2006.
