Objectives: Herpes zoster (HZ), caused by varicella zoster virus reactivation, affects a significant portion of the population, leading to substantial morbidity. Vaccination is highly effective in preventing HZ, yet awareness and uptake remain low. This study assessed awareness and willingness to vaccinate against HZ in Poland following the introduction of a reimbursement policy.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFOxidative modifications of lipoproteins play a crucial role in the initiation of atherosclerotic cardiovascular diseases (ASCVDs). Nowadays, the one effective strategy for the treatment of patients with hyperlipoproteinemia(a) is lipoprotein apheresis (LA), which has a pleiotropic effect on reducing the risk of ASCVDs. The significance of oxidative susceptibility of the LDL fraction in ASCVDs has been extensively studied.

Methods: A nationwide cross-sectional survey was conducted in 2024 using a computer-assisted web interview (CAWI). The 1080 adults (aged 18-82 years) were interviewed, of which 53% were females.
Neonatal pain is a significant clinical issue but the mechanisms by which pain is produced early in life are poorly understood. Our recent work has linked the transcription factor serum response factor downstream of local growth hormone (GH) signaling to incision-related hypersensitivity in neonates. However, it remains unclear if similar mechanisms contribute to inflammatory pain in neonates.

Background: Transition from pediatric to adult healthcare and services is an important event in the life course of all youth, including youth living with medical complexity. Data from the National Survey of Children's Health indicates less than 20 % of youth receive health care transition services. The goal of our study was understanding the support, tools and resources that facilitate successful health care transition of young adults living with medical complexity.

Using RNA-sequencing analysis, we found that short-sleeping mutants had a normal transcriptional oxidative stress response relative to controls. In both short-sleeping mutants and controls, hyperoxia led to downregulation of glycolytic genes and upregulation of genes involved in fatty acid metabolism, reminiscent of metabolic shifts during sleep.

Nociceptors and myofibers both react robustly to signals generated from circulating immune cells, which promote repair, growth, and regeneration of muscle while simultaneously modulating peripheral sensitization. Here, we found that macrophages form a synaptic-like contact with myofibers to hasten repair after acute incision injury and to facilitate regeneration after major muscle damage.

Medical records (admission reports and discharge reports) of patients admitted to seven Day Medical Care Homes managed by the Medical and Diagnostic Centre (Poland) were analyzed. The functional status of the patients was assessed using the Barthel Index and the Instrumental Activities of Daily Living (IADL) tool.

This study aimed to analyze health policy programs on eye health implemented by LGUs in Poland between 2015 and 2023.
Material And Methods: This is a retrospective analysis of data on health policy programs on eye health implemented by LGUs in Poland from 1 January 2015 to 31 December 2023.
Background: Stroke is one of the most misdiagnosed conditions that causes serious medical disabilities. Its early and accurate diagnosis by the emergency team is crucial for the patient's survival. This study aimed to determine the percentage of brain strokes incorrectly diagnosed by paramedic teams and to analyze the factors influencing incorrect diagnoses.

The optimal timing for ileostomy closure remains debatable. Defining the timing associated with the best postoperative outcomes can significantly improve the clinical results for patients undergoing ileostomy closure.

These conditions frequently affect spatial memory, which can serve as a model of declarative memory due to well-known cellular components and advanced methods that track neural activity and behavior with high temporal resolution. However, most findings on serotonin's effects on spatial learning and memory come from studies lacking refined analytical techniques and modern approaches needed to uncover the underlying neuronal mechanisms.

Method: We obtained data from 1327 infant/mother dyads at 1 and 6-month well-child checks. We used Chi-square and T-tests to compare social determinants between PPD screening groups and logistical regression to construct predictive models for PPD.

Introduction: Nicotine pouches are a new type of nicotine-containing product that have been marketed in many countries worldwide, generating growing acceptance among consumers. The aim of this study was to assess factors associated with public awareness and use of nicotine pouches among adults in Poland.
Methods: A cross-sectional survey was conducted with a nationally representative sample of 1080 adults in Poland (February 2024).
Point-of-care ultrasound (POCUS) involves the acquisition, interpretation, and immediate clinical integration of ultrasonographic imaging performed by a treating clinician. The current state of cardiac POCUS terminology is heterogeneous and ambiguous, in part because it evolved through siloed specialty practices. In particular, the medical literature and colloquial medical conversation contain a wide variety of terms that equate to cardiac POCUS.
