The Pd-Zn γ-brass phase provides exciting opportunities for synthesizing site-isolated catalysts with precisely controlled Pd active site ensembles. Introducing a third metallic element into the γ-brass lattice further perturbs the catalytic active site ensembles. Here, we introduce coinage metallic elements M (M = Cu, Ag, and Au) into the Pd-Zn γ-brass phase and investigate the site occupation factors of each element in the γ-brass lattice.

The influence of the microstructure and hardness of the material on the durability of the tools is also discussed, which is important for understanding the mechanisms of their wear. The research showed that the standard tools used in the process (only after nitriding) as a reference point worked for the shortest period, making an average of about 1400 forgings.

Comparative field studies using the RADON-JOK device in various geological settings in Japan and Poland demonstrate the effectiveness of PECAME. These studies reveal a strong correlation between PECAME and RADON-JOK, with an R value of 0.

Mercury's bioaccumulation characteristics in the human body have a significant impact on the liver, kidneys, brain, and muscles. In order to detect Hg ions, a highly sensitive and specific fluorescent biosensor has been developed using a novel, modified seven amino acid peptide, FY7.

Here, we present strong coupling between a hole charge qubit, defined in a double quantum dot (DQD) in planar Ge, and microwave photons in a high-impedance (Z = 1.3 kΩ) resonator based on an array of superconducting quantum interference devices (SQUIDs).

These final medical-anatomical procedures remain irreplaceable, shedding light on diagnoses, optimizing treatments, preventing disease spread, educating healthcare professionals, and influencing state jurisdiction. Despite the decline in the number of autopsies performed in recent decades, their medical-social significance remains essentially unchanged.

A spectroscopy method of alpha particles with the track geometry parameters in CR-39 plastic nuclear track detectors is proposed. The relationship between the track registration sensitivity and incident angle of each etch pit is analyzed. The components of alpha particles emitted from radon, thoron and 241Am can be roughly separated when the etching level is not exceeded beyond the range in CR-39.

The National Metrology Institute of Japan plan to use an inner-through-type ionization chamber (IC) as a working standard to calibrate radon monitors. Novel methods to calibrate the IC were described, and the calibration factor, CF [Bq m -3 A-1], of the IC with its expanded uncertainty (k = 2) was evaluated to be (2.0 ± 0.

Recent studies show that in up to 34% of cases in adult women, VLS coexists with allergies or autoimmune diseases like celiac disease (CD), among others. However, literature data relating strictly to the co-occurrence of celiac disease and Duhring's disease (DH) in patients with VLS are very limited.

The etiopathogenesis of VLS remains unknown and is likely multifactorial. Data emphasize the role of immunological factors - more than 25% of VLS cases coexist with autoimmune diseases.

At high overpotentials, the CO reaction order approaches -1 due to enhanced CO adsorption on Au, which is supported by kinetic analysis and density functional theory (DFT) simulations. This work illustrates that the CO site-blocking effect cannot be ignored, even on a weak CO-binding metal such as Au in the electrochemical environment.

Here, a stack of nano-assembled layers in the form of 1D photonic crystal, deposited on D-shaped single-mode fibers, is created to meet these criteria, resulting in the generation of Bloch surface wave resonances. The increase in the contrast between high and low refractive index (RI) nano-layers, along with the reduction of losses, enables not only to achieve high sensitivity, but also a narrowed resonance bandwidth, leading to a significant enhancement in the FoM.
