This study focusses on the sliding motion for a velocity field-based 3D+t registration. The discontinuity of the tangent direction guides the deformation of the object region, and a separate control of two regions provides a better registration accuracy.

Thus, the purpose of this study was to automatically extract pulmonary vessels from volumetric chest CT and evaluate the associations between the derived quantitative pulmonary vessel features and clinical parameters, including survival, in COPD patients.
Methods: This study included 344 adult COPD patients.
Objectives: To evaluate automated texture-based segmentation of dual-energy CT (DECT) images in diffuse interstitial lung disease (DILD) patients and prognostic stratification by overlapping morphologic and perfusion information of total lung.
Methods: Suspected DILD patients scheduled for surgical biopsy were prospectively included. Texture patterns included ground-glass opacity (GGO), reticulation and consolidation.
Purpose: To develop and validate a semiautomatic segmentation method for thoracic cavity volumetry and mediastinum fat quantification of patients with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease.
Methods: The thoracic cavity region was separated by segmenting multiorgans, namely, the rib, lung, heart, and diaphragm. To encompass various lung disease-induced variations, the inner thoracic wall and diaphragm were modeled by using a three-dimensional surface-fitting method.
Image processing of a fundus image is performed for the early detection of diabetic retinopathy. Recently, several studies have proposed that the use of a morphological filter may help extract hemorrhages from the fundus image; however, extraction of hemorrhages using template matching with templates of various shapes has not been reported. In our study, we applied hue saturation value brightness correction and contrast-limited adaptive histogram equalization to fundus images.
