Objective: To assess the safety of replacing the postoperative week 1 (POW1) clinic visit with a nurse-conducted telephone call.

Design: Retrospective observational study that included cases from January 2019 to June 2021.

Ultrasound biomicroscopy (UBM) is an invaluable investigation for imaging anterior segment structures. Although it is operator-dependent and time consuming, unlike optical-based imaging techniques, it is able to image structures posterior to the iris, such as the zonules, ciliary body and part of the pars plana. It is especially useful in advanced cataracts, traumatic cataracts, subluxed lenses, posterior polar cataracts, and congenital and developmental anomalies affecting the anterior segment.

The outbreak of the coronavirus disease 2019 has further increased the urgent need for digital transformation within the health care settings, with the use of artificial intelligence/deep learning, internet of things, telecommunication network/virtual platform, and blockchain. The recent advent of metaverse, an interconnected online universe, with the synergistic combination of augmented, virtual, and mixed reality described several years ago, presents a new era of immersive and real-time experiences to enhance human-to-human social interaction and connection. In health care and ophthalmology, the creation of virtual environment with three-dimensional (3D) space and avatar, could be particularly useful in patient-fronting platforms (eg, telemedicine platforms), operational uses (eg, meeting organization), digital education (eg, simulated medical and surgical education), diagnostics, and therapeutics.

Purpose: The aim of this study was to assess associations of breastfeeding, adiposity and reproductive risk factors with ovarian cancer risk in a Singaporean population. In addition to the main analysis, interaction effects of parity on other risk factors were examined.

Methods: A retrospective cohort consisting of 28,201 women with 107 incident ovarian cancers in up to 17 years of follow-up from the Singapore Breast Cancer Screening Project (1994-1997) was studied.
