Objective: Malignant hyperthermia (MH) is characterized by a state of hypermetabolism after exposure to halogenated inhalational anesthetics or succinylcholine. The aims of this study were to carry out an updated review on the subject and report an illustrative case of MH in urgent maxillofacial surgery.

Purpose: We evaluated the effects of melatonin used in the preoperative period for patients who had undergone surgical treatment of a zygomatic fracture.

Patients And Methods: A triple-blind, randomized clinical trial of 2 groups was conducted: the melatonin group (10 mg) and the placebo group. After allocation, 1 tablet of melatonin was used the night before and another tablet 2 hours before the start of surgery.

Background And Objectives: Intracranial subdural hematoma is a rare complication of spinal anesthesia. We report two cases of women who developed chronic subdural hematoma post-spinal anesthesia diagnosed after prolonged clinical evolution of post-dural puncture headache (PDPH) and we analyze other 33 cases found on literature review.

Case Reports: In 35 patients (ages 20-88 years, 19 males), 14 were older than 60 years (40%), of which 12 (86%) were males.
