Climate change can alter species coexistence through changes in biotic interactions. By describing reciprocal interactions between plants and soil microbes, plant-soil feedback (PSF) has emerged as a powerful framework for predicting plant species coexistence and community dynamics, but little is known about how PSF will respond to changing climate conditions. Hence, the context dependency of PSF has recently gained attention.

Phytochemicals are used often in vitro and in vivo in cancer research. The plant hormones jasmonates (JAs) control the synthesis of specialized metabolites through complex regulatory networks. JAs possess selective cytotoxicity in mixed populations of cancer and normal cells.

Janzen-Connell effects are negative effects on the survival of a plant's progeny at high conspecific densities or close to its conspecifics. Although the role of Janzen-Connell effects on the maintenance of plant diversity was frequently studied, only few studies targeted Janzen-Connell effects via postdispersal seed predation in temperate grassland systems. We examined effects of conspecific density (abundance of conspecific adult plants) on postdispersal seed predation by invertebrates of three grassland species () in experimental plant communities.

Article Synopsis
  • Bees play a critical role in pollination, and their populations are influenced by both local farming practices and the surrounding landscape.
  • The study analyzed factors like landscape composition (availability of resources), configuration (how patches of habitat are arranged), and farm management types (organic vs. conventional) across 39 global crop systems.
  • Results showed that wild bee populations thrived in organic and diverse farming systems, while conventional farms with low diversity benefited most from having quality habitats nearby, indicating the importance of both management and landscape quality for pollinator health.
