All the analyses strongly support the monophyly of Bibionomorpha in both the narrow () and the broader () concepts. The major lineages of Bibionomorpha (Sciaroidea, Bibionoidea, Anisopodoidea, and Scatopsoidea) and most of the included families are supported as monophyletic groups.
