Anteversion Angle Measurement in Suspected Torsional Malalignment of the Femur in 3-Dimensional EOS vs Computed Tomography-A Validation Study.

Background: Computed tomography (CT) scan is the standard for assessment of femoral torsion. This observational study was conducted to evaluate the comparability of the EOS radiation dose scanning system (EOS imaging, Paris, France) and the CT scan in patients with suspected torsional malalignment of the femur.

Methods: Patients with suspected torsional malalignment of the femur were included in a study for surgical planning.

Direct imine acylation: synthesis of the proposed structures of 'upenamide.

The synthesis of the two proposed structures of macrocyclic marine natural product 'upenamide is reported. The key step utilizes direct imine acylation (DIA) with a protected β-hydroxy acid to construct the key tricyclic ABC ring system. The macrocyclization was completed in the final step using a Stille cross-coupling reaction.

The first synthetic route to the spirooxaquinolizidinone core (ABC core) of the macrocyclic marine alkaloid 'upenamide (1) has been developed. All five stereocenters were introduced with complete stereocontrol. The hydroxyl group at C-11 was introduced by a regio- and stereoselective SeO(2)-mediated allylic oxidation.

2-pyrones possessing antimicrobial and cytotoxic activities.

The 2-pyrone sub-unit is found in a number of natural products possessing broad spectrum biological activity. Such compounds are validated as being capable of binding to specific protein domains and able to exert a remarkable range of biological effects. In an effort to identify synthetic 2-pyrones with interesting biological effects, herein we report the synthesis and biological evaluation of 4-substituted-6-methyl-2-pyrones.
