Clinical efficacy of 1% metformin gel around conventionally placed dental implants: A 9-month follow-up study.

Aim: The study aimed to compare the clinical and radiographic outcomes of bone volume, density, and crestal bone levels in conventionally placed dental implants with and without local application of 1% metformin (MF) gel using cone-beam computed tomography (CBCT) at 9 months.

Materials And Methods: Twenty implants were placed in 18 individuals, randomly divided into 2 groups where Group A received a local application of 1% MF gel along with implant placement. In contrast, Group B received implant placement alone.

Aims And Objective: Routine oral health care is essential for those living with HIV (human immunodeficiency virus) infection, especially in pregnant women. Hormonal changes during pregnancy, immunosupression in HIV along with bacterial load in periodontal infections strongly influence the pregnancy outcomes. The aim of this study was to evaluate the periodontal health status in HIV seropositive pregnant women in Andhra Pradesh, India.

Accuracy of cone beam computed tomography in diagnosis and treatment planning of periodontal bone defects: a case report.

Regardless of efforts in improving reliability, present methods of detecting bone level changes over time or determining three-dimensional (3-D) architecture of osseous defects are lacking. To improve the diagnostic potential, an imaging modality which would give an undistorted 3-D vision of a tooth and surrounding structures is imperative.

Context: Preterm low-birth-weight (PLBW) infants are at a higher risk for a number of acute and chronic disorders. Studies point to an association between periodontal infection and increased rates of preterm birth, and pregnant mothers with periodontal diseases are at increased risk of subsequent preterm birth or low birth weight. However, the awareness level of gynecologists about this relationship is unknown.

Turner's syndrome is a disorder in females characterized by the absence of all or part of a normal second sex chromosome. It is typically characterized by the combination of physical features and cytogenetics in females.
