Introduction: Previously published studies have hypothesized that total hip arthroplasty (THA) requires the surgeon to expend more energy that total knee arthroplasty (TKA). However, techniques for performing these procedures have evolved. Therefore, we sought to compare if primary THA had increased energy expenditure compared to primary TKA.

Background: Nonalcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH) is common in patients with obesity. Liver biopsy (LB) can be routinely or selectively performed during bariatric surgery to identify patients with NASH.

Background: The burden of gastric cancer involving Hispanic patients in the United States is growing as both the population and the incidence of gastric cancer in this group increases. This burden is compounded by presentation with advanced disease and socioeconomic challenges shaping cancer care. We sought to describe the demographics, socioeconomic factors, treatment, and survival experience of Hispanic patients with gastric adenocarcinoma.

A 14-year old girl with reversible hypoglycemic episodes: the role of ASVS.

We present the case of a 14-year-old female who experienced several episodes of reversible altered mental status triggered by hypoglycemia. Following endocrine investigation, she was diagnosed with insulinoma. Insulinoma, a rare, differentiated, and functioning neuroendocrine tumor of the pancreas overproduces insulin, thus leading to hypoglycemic episodes.

Muon (- 2): experiment and theory.

A review of the experimental and theoretical determinations of the anomalous magnetic moment of the muon is given. The anomaly is defined by= (- 2)/2, where the Landé-factor is the proportionality constant that relates the spin to the magnetic moment. For the muon, as well as for the electron and tauon, the anomalydiffers slightly from zero (of the order 10) because of radiative corrections.
