Medial Column Fusions in Flatfoot Deformities: Naviculocuneiform and Talonavicular.

Progressive collapsing foot deformity (PCFD; commonly referred to as flatfoot deformity) is a complex condition classically characterized by hindfoot valgus, midfoot abduction, and forefoot varus. Medial column arthrodesis can be used to reliably correct severe, arthritic, and unstable PCFD involving the medial column. Although both naviculocuneiform arthrodesis and talonavicular arthrodesis have their own indications, patient selection and careful radiographic and clinical assessment are crucial for any medial column arthrodesis.

Noninvasive Soft Tissue Expansion Strips and Wound Complications After Total Ankle Arthroplasty.

Background: Total ankle arthroplasty through the anterior approach (TAR-AA) is an increasingly popular treatment for ankle arthritis, but it carries a known risk for wound complications. Several products have been investigated to mitigate this risk; however, most are either costly or invasive. Noninvasive skin expansion strips (NSESs) were designed to transfer tension away from the incision and induce new skin growth at the edges of the strips.

Conservative Management of Kienbock's Disease in a 7-year Old: A Case Report.

 Kienbock's disease is primarily seen in young adult males but has been recognized in skeletally immature populations as well. Traditional treatment strategies recommend operative treatment but high remodeling potential in children may allow conservative management.  We present the case of a 7-year-old female with 2 months of atraumatic right wrist pain who was found to have edematous signal change within the lunate on wrist magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) consistent with Kienbock's disease.

Osteolysis and adverse local soft-tissue reactions are well-documented complications of metal-on-metal prosthetic implants. This case report describes a 68-year-old man who presented to the clinic 10 years after staged bilateral metal-on-metal total hip arthroplasty revisions with the primary complaint of groin pain, intermittent right leg pain, swelling, and muscle cramping while ambulating that resolved with rest. A complete workup was negative for deep venous thrombosis and infection.

No previous studies have determined the effect that greater trochanter decortication has on the pullout strength of suture anchors.
