Background: Hidradenitis Suppurativa (HS) is a chronic inflammatory skin condition with a greater prevalence and disease burden in patients who identify as African American and those with a family history of HS, suggesting a strong genetic component to its pathogenesis.

Objective: To evaluate the relationship between plasma inflammatory protein expression, HS disease severity, and genetic ancestry in a diverse cohort of patients with Hidradenitis Suppurativa.

Objective: Vascular pathology, characterized by impaired vasoreactivity and mitochondrial respiration, differs between the sexes. Housing rats under thermoneutral (TN) conditions causes vascular dysfunction and perturbed metabolism. We hypothesized that perivascular adipose tissue (PVAT), a vasoregulatory adipose depot with brown adipose tissue (BAT) phenotype, remodels to a white adipose (WAT) phenotype in rats housed at TN, driving diminished vasoreactivity in a sex-dependent manner.

Lenvatinib is a multitargeted tyrosine kinase inhibitor (TKI) that shows improved median progression-free survival (PFS) in patients with thyroid carcinomas. However, virtually all patients ultimately progress, indicating the need for a better understanding of the mechanisms of resistance. Here, we examined the molecular profile of anaplastic thyroid cancer cells (8505C) exposed to lenvatinib and found that long-term exposure to lenvatinib caused phenotypic changes.

Using the rabbit endocarditis model, we compared the activity of a new broad-spectrum cephalosporin, ceftaroline, with those of linezolid and vancomycin against methicillin-resistant Staphylococcus aureus. After a 4-day treatment, ceftaroline exhibited superior bactericidal in vivo activity against resistant S. aureus strains and appeared to be the most effective drug against a heterogeneous glycopeptide-intermediate S.

High-resolution 1H NMR spectra of P2 protein from bovine peripheral nerve myelin indicate that the protein contains a high degree of tertiary structure in aqueous solution. Denaturation of the protein in urea solutions is a multi-step process. Binding of lysophosphatidylcholine micelles to the protein causes a conformational change and a broadening of NMR peaks from side chains of aromatic amino acid and methionine residues, with much less effect on upfield methyl resonances.
