There is a lack of strong evidence-based guidance regarding management when anticoagulation is required to prevent or treat venous thromboembolism during pregnancy. In practice, some patients are prescribed enoxaparin and transitioned to heparin due to the shorter half-life in the setting of an unpredictable delivery despite less predictable pharmacokinetics of heparin compared with enoxaparin, while others are continued on enoxaparin with a scheduled delivery.

The prevalence of "long COVID" is just one of the conundrums highlighting how little we know about the lung's response to viral infection, particularly to syndromecoronavirus-2 (SARS-CoV-2), for which the lung is the point of entry. We used an in vitro human lung system to enable a prospective, unbiased, sequential single-cell level analysis of pulmonary cell responses to infection by multiple SARS-CoV-2 strains. Starting with human induced pluripotent stem cells and emulating lung organogenesis, we generated and infected three-dimensional, multi-cell-type-containing lung organoids (LOs) and gained several unexpected insights.

Anaplastic lymphoma kinase ( ALK )-fusion sarcomas are rare part of the emerging theoretically targetable tyrosine kinase RAS::MAPK pathway fusion myopericytic-ovoid sarcomas. We report our clinicopathologic and treatment experience with an ALK fusion sarcoma. A novel ELKS/RAB6-interacting/CAST family member 1 - unaligned ALK fusion infiltrative nonmetastatic low-grade sarcoma of the right hand of a 15-month-old male was treated with crizotinib, an ALK tyrosine kinase inhibitor as oral monotherapy, inducing complete radiographic and clinical resolution by 10 months and sustained response now over 12 months after elective discontinuation.

The imaging evaluation of acute abdominal pain in children with suspected appendicitis has evolved to include rapid abdominopelvic MRI (rMRI) over recent years. Through a collaborative effort between the Magnetic Resonance Imaging (MRI) and Emergency and Trauma Imaging Committees of the Society for Pediatric Radiology (SPR), we conducted a survey on the utilization of rMRI to assess practice specifics and protocols. Little is known regarding associations between inflammatory biomarkers and objectively measured physical activity and sleep during and after chemotherapy for gynecologic cancer; thus, we conducted a longitudinal study to address this gap. Women with gynecologic cancer (patients) and non-cancer controls (controls) completed assessments before chemotherapy cycles 1, 3, and 6 (controls assessed contemporaneously), as well as at 6- and 12-month follow-ups. Physical activity and sleep were measured using wrist-worn actigraphs and sleep diaries, and blood was drawn to quantify circulating levels of inflammatory markers.

This paper compares the relative cost of long-distance, large-scale energy transmission by electricity, gaseous, and liquid carriers (e-fuels). The results indicate that the cost of electrical transmission per delivered MWh can be up to eight times higher than for hydrogen pipelines, about eleven times higher than for natural gas pipelines, and twenty to fifty times higher than for liquid fuels pipelines. These differences generally hold for shorter distances as well.

Chimeric antigen receptor T-cell therapy with axicabtagene ciloleucel (axi-cel) has considerably improved survival in adults with relapsed/refractory large B-cell lymphoma. This study reports patient-reported outcomes (PROs) such as quality of life (QOL) and toxicity in the first 90 days after treatment. The NMR chemical shift has been the most versatile marker of chemical structures, by reflecting global and local electronic structures, and is very sensitive to any change within the chemical species. In this work, Ru(II) complexes with the same five ligands and a variable sixth ligand L (none, HO, HS, CHSH, H, N, NO, NO, C═CHPh, and CO) are studied by using as the NMR reporter the phosphorus P of a coordinated bidentate P-N ligand (P-N = -diphenylphosphino-,'-dimethylaniline). The chemical shift of P in RuCl(P-N)(PR)(L) (R = phenyl, -tolyl, or -FCH) was shown to increase as the Ru-P bond distance decreases, an observation that was not rationalized.

Unlabelled: Disrupted antiviral immune responses are associated with severe COVID-19, the disease caused by SAR-CoV-2. Here, we show that the 73-amino-acid protein encoded by of the viral genome contains a putative transmembrane domain, interacts with membrane proteins in multiple cellular compartments, and impairs antiviral processes in a lung epithelial cell line. Proteomic, interactome, and transcriptomic analyses, combined with bioinformatic analysis, revealed that expression of only this highly unstable small viral protein impaired interferon signaling, antigen presentation, and complement signaling, while inducing IL-6 signaling.
