Development of Indicators to Assess Quality of Care for Prostate Cancer.

Background: The development, monitoring, and reporting of indicator measures that describe standard of care provide the gold standard for assessing quality of care and patient outcomes. Although indicator measures have been reported, little evidence of their use in measuring and benchmarking performance is available. A standard set, defining numerator, denominator, and risk adjustments, will enable global benchmarking of quality of care.

Botulinum toxin injections for adults with overactive bladder syndrome.

Background: Overactive bladder syndrome (OAB) is a common condition with a significant negative impact on quality of life characterised by urgency with or without urge incontinence, frequency and nocturia.  Intravesical botulinum toxin is being increasingly used to treat severe overactive bladder refractory to standard management.  An increasing body of literature is forming that supports this technique as effective, well tolerated, and safe.

Robot-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy: a 2010 update.

Aim: To build on the previous article and further explore the safety and efficacy of robotic-assisted laparoscopic prostatectomy (RALP) in the first 100 cases from a single institution in New Zealand.
