Giant cell arteritis with panocular involvement in an Indian male.

A case of giant cell arteritis with systemic and panocular involvement is reported here. This elderly Indian male presented with symptoms of unilateral temporal headache and intermittent jaw claudication for a month followed by diplopia and blurring of vision and later loss of vision in the right eye. The right eye showed some limitation of ocular movements, presence of relative afferent pupil defect, anterior segment ischaemic changes and anterior ischaemic optic neuropathy.

Prevalence of dry eye in University Malaya Medical Centre.

Two hundred outpatients (115 females and 85 males) attending the University Malaya Medical Center (UMMC) eye clinic, aged 20 years and above and without any ocular surface disorder were recruited for this study. Their tear film status was determined subjectively by their symptoms and quantitatively by the cotton thread test, Schirmer's test, marginal tear film meniscus assessment, fluorescein corneal staining and tear break-up time. Dry eye was considered present if at least one symptom was experienced often or always, within the past 3 months.
