Introduction: Adverse drug reactions (ADRs) pose a significant challenge in clinical practice, impacting patient safety and treatment outcomes. Genetic variations in drug-metabolizing enzymes, particularly glutathione S-transferases (GSTs), have been implicated in modulating individual susceptibility to ADRs.
Areas Covered: This overview aims to explore the association between GSTs genetic polymorphisms and ADRs across diverse drug categories documented in current literature.
Tuberculosis is an infectious disease caused by Mycobacterium tuberculosis. It constitutes a public health problem, especially in developing countries. Pelvic localization is rare with tubal involvement being the most frequent.

Methods: In this cross-sectional study involving healthy Moroccan adults, data was collected through a mobile spirometry setup.
Results: Our sample comprised 841 healthy adults (384 men and 457 women) aged 18-86 years who underwent spirometry.
Background: Sarcoidosis is a granulomatous disease that mostly affects the lungs. Advanced tissue injury caused by this disease can progress to pulmonary fibrosis with similar characteristics shared with idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF). The initial presentations of both sarcoidosis and IPF may be shared with other interstitial lung diseases (ILDs).

Although the occurrence of late metastatic recurrence in the lung is relatively rare, we present the case of a 52-year-old woman, previously diagnosed and treated for CSCC. After 4 years of disease-free intervals, she presented with respiratory symptoms, including cough, dyspnea, and hemoptysis, with marked asthenia.
View Article and Find Full Text PDFTuberculosis (TB) is still a major public health concern in Morocco. Although first-line antituberculosis drugs (ATD) are generally considered safe and effective, serious adverse events can occur. In this case report, we describe a female with pulmonary TB who experienced anaphylaxis induced by rifampicin (RFP) and pyrazinamide (PZA) during ATD therapy.

Although lung imaging techniques have many advantages for disease diagnosis, the interpretation of medial lung images has always been a major problem for physicians and radiologists due to diagnostic errors.

View Article and Find Full Text PDFFemale genital tuberculosis (TB) is a common form of extrapulmonary TB (EPTB). It is a major cause of infertility in low-income countries, and in many cases, it is asymptomatic and typically not diagnosed until the patient seeks medical advice for infertility. The infection is usually secondary to primary pulmonary TB via hematogenous or lymphatic dissemination, but sexual transmission through genital TB of the partner is also possible.

Case Presentation: We report the case of a 50-year-old, diagnosed with mediastinal and mammary sarcoidosis.
Introduction: Despite the high prevalence of tuberculosis in the world and especially in endemic areas such as Morocco, isolated hepatic and pancreatic tuberculosis and pancreatic tuberculosis remain rare and pose a real diagnostic problem.
Case Presentation: We report a case illustrating an exceptional association of pancreatic tuberculosis with hepatic tuberculosis in a 44-year-old immunocompetent woman, in whom the presence of a pancreatic mass on imaging suggested a neoplastic origin. The diagnosis was rectified after bacteriological and pathological study of the CT-guided percutaneous biopsy specimens.
Malignant mesothelioma is a rare and aggressive cancer that usually affects subjects with prior asbestos exposure, a major risk factor that has been widely known as carcinogenic, and its use is now controlled if not banned in many areas of the world. Malignant mesothelioma originates from mesothelial surface cells covering the serous cavities, and the pleura is its most common site. Malignant pleural mesothelioma (MPM) typically presents with pleural effusion and chest wall pain with wide pleural thickening at radiological investigation.

Forms of tuberculosis complicated by MAS frequently occur in immunocompromised subjects. The disease is often disseminated, severe, and has a poor prognosis.

However, it may present with gastrointestinal, central nervous system, skin and vascular disease manifestations. Intracardiac thrombus is a rare but serious complication of Behçet's disease.

It can arise among HIV-positive subjects or within immunosuppression, yet exceptionally of tuberculous origin. We describe a new case report of an HIV-negative patient, manifesting Kaposi's disease in the course of tuberculosis, with the aim to assess this uncommon disorder and to outline this rare atypical association.

Its growing incidence and the diagnostic and therapeutic difficulties make it a public health problem especially in the developing countries. We report two cases of extrapulmonary drug-resistant tuberculosis (nodal and osteo-articular) and five cases of pulmonary tuberculosis and extra-pulmonary tuberculosis (pleural, nodal, anal and neuro-meningeal) in hospitalized patients at the Hopital Moulay Youssef in Rabat.

The aim of this study was to determine the incidence of adverse reactions caused by first-line anti-tuberculosis drugs and to evaluate the treatment outcome of TB patients in a large region of Morocco.
Methods: It is a multi-centric observational cohort study conducted from January 01, 2014 to January 01, 2016.
Macrophage activation syndrome (MAS) is a rare disorder due to an inappropriate stimulation of macrophages in the bone marrow and in the lymphoid organs. It is defined based on clinical and cytohistological criteria as well as on laboratory tests. Primary syndrome can occur mostly in children or it can be secondary to different types of disorders: haematological, infectious diseases as well as different types of autoimmune diseases.

Treatment outcome of drug resistant tuberculosis is poor and requires a long period of treatment with many toxic and expensive antituberculosis drugs. The aim of this study is to evaluate treatment outcomes of drug resistant tuberculosis and to determine predictors of poor treatment outcomes in a large region of Morocco.

Cyst hydatid may affect all parts of the human body like the heart, the bone marrow, the eye, the brain, the kidney, and the spermatic cord. Humans can become infested by accidentally ingesting the eggs that are passed in the feces from definitive hosts (usually a canid, such as a wolf, fox, or dog).

Background: Tuberculosis (TB) is a major health problem in Morocco. This study aims at examining trends in TB in Morocco and identifying TB spatial clusters and TB-associated predictors.
Method: Country-level surveillance data was exploited.
Primary pleuropulmonary synovial sarcoma is extremely rare. The diagnosis can only be made after having eliminated an extrapleuropulmonary localization in the past and at the time of diagnosis. Our presentation is about a 40-year-old woman having a cough and dyspnea since three weeks ago; imaging had showed a left pleurisy with pleuropulmonary process.
