Objective: To describe Kaiser Permanente Northern California's (KPNC) systematic implementation of universal tobacco screening, evidence-based interventions, and performance measures to achieve long-term smoking cessation success.

Methods: We outline seven key components of KPNC's tobacco screening and intervention program that contributed to a significant decline in smoking prevalence. We also report changes in the prevalence of current smokers within KPNC from 2014 to 2023 using linear regression analyses.

Introduction: The objective of this study was to examine the interplay of polygenic risk and individual lifestyle factors (and a composite score of lifestyle) as antecedents of CHD in a large multiethnic cohort.

Methods: We used Genetic Epidemiology Resource in Adult Health and Aging (GERA) cohort participants free of CHD at baseline (n = 60,568; 67 % female; 18 % non-European). The individual and joint associations of smoking, Mediterranean diet pattern, level of physical activity and polygenic risk with incident CHD were assessed using Cox regression adjusting for genetic ancestry and non-mediating risk factors.

Purpose: Women with breast cancer (BC) are at high risk of developing cardiovascular disease (CVD). We examined adherence to CVD medications and their association with major CVD events over 14 years of follow-up in the Pathways Heart Study, a prospective study of 4,776 stage I-III BC patients diagnosed from 2005-2013.

Methods: Eligibility included being alive 6 months post-BC diagnosis, with dyslipidemia, hypertension, or diabetes at diagnosis along with ≥1 prior outpatient order or dispensing for a statin, anti-hypertensive, or diabetes medication, respectively, in the 30 months prior.

Aims: Moderate-to-vigorous-intensity physical activity (MVPA), cardiorespiratory fitness (CRF), and coronary artery calcification (CAC) are associated with cardiovascular disease (CVD) risk. With a growing body of evidence that now links environmental pollution to adverse cardiovascular disease (CVD) outcomes, pollution has emerged as an important risk factor for CVD. There is thus an urgent need to better understand the role of pollution in CVD, key pathophysiological mechanisms, and to raise awareness among health care providers, the scientific community, the general population, and regulatory authorities about the CV impact of pollution and strategies to reduce it. Cardiovascular disease (CVD) is the leading cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. Over the past 50 years, there has been a substantial decline in the incidence of CVD and related mortality in high-income countries, largely due to the mitigation of modifiable risk factors such as smoking, hypertension, and diabetes. However, a significant burden of CVD remains in low- to middle-income countries, despite their lower prevalence of traditional risk factors; other environmental factors, particularly pollution, play a significant role in this attributable risk.

Background: Noninvasive cardiac testing (NICT) has been associated with decreased long-term risks of major adverse cardiac events (MACEs) among emergency department patients at high coronary risk. It is unclear whether this association extends to patients without evidence of myocardial injury on initial ECG and cardiac troponin testing.

Methods: Analysing 2900 US counties from 2011 to 2019, we used the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) databases to obtain annual AACVM rates.
