Fitness trackers could represent an easy-to-use and cheap tool for continuous tracking of physical activity of stroke survivors during the period of their recovery at home. The aim of the study was to examine the accuracy of the Fitbit activity tracker in locomotor activity monitoring of stroke survivors with respect to gait disorders, walking speed, walking aid, and placement of the tracker on body. Twenty-four ambulatory stroke survivors (15 men and 9 women) with locomotion/gait disorder were involved in the study.

Currently, Telemedicine mainly represents the passive transfer of data from the patient to the doctor, while telerehabilitation is an active therapeutic tool. Telerehabilitation and its applications are mainly the domain of physiotherapists, occupational therapists, clinical speech therapists, clinical psychologists, and other non-medical professionals. Case model of telerehabilitation in the Czech Republic is the model of the Virtual Ambulance for distance therapy in the Rehabilitation Centre Kladruby, which covers all basic areas of rehabilitation (physiotherapy, occupational therapy, psychology, speech therapy).

Background: Individuals with acquired brain injuries (ABI) are in need of neurorehabilitation and neurorepair. Virtual anatomical interactivity (VAI) presents a digital game-like format in which ABI survivors with upper limb paresis use an unaffected limb to control a standard input device and a commonplace computer mouse to control virtual limb movements and tasks in a virtual world.

Methods: In a prospective cohort study, 35 ambulatory survivors of ABI (25/71% stroke, 10/29% traumatic brain injury) were enrolled.

Background: Motor impairment and loss of ambulatory function are major consequences of a spinal cord injury (SCI). Exoskeletons are robotic devices that allow SCI patients with limited ambulatory function to walk. The mean walking speed of SCI patients using an exoskeleton is low: 0.

Background: The application of rehabilitation robots has grown during the last decade. While meta-analyses have shown beneficial effects of robotic interventions for some patient groups, the evidence is less in others. We established the Advanced Robotic Therapy Integrated Centers (ARTIC) network with the goal of advancing the science and clinical practice of rehabilitation robotics.
