Multicomponent equimolar perovskite oxides (ME-POs) have recently emerged as a highly promising class of materials with unique synergistic effects, making them well-suited for applications in such areas as photovoltaics and micro- and nanoelectronics. High-entropy perovskite oxide thin film in the (GdNdLaSmY)CoO (RECO, where RE = GdNdLaSmY, C = Co, and O = O) system was synthesized via pulsed laser deposition. The crystalline growth in an amorphous fused quartz substrate and single-phase composition of the synthesized film was confirmed by X-ray diffraction (XRD) and X-ray photoelectron spectroscopy (XPS).

Knowledge of the actual temperature of nanoparticles under electron beam irradiation is of growing demand for in situ TEM studies. In this work, we addressed the problem with an experimental study of the temperature increment of single AuGe nanoparticles in a TEM and a STEM. The two-phase hemispherical AuGe nanoparticles were formed by the dewetting of an Au/Ge film on a SiN substrate.

In this study, electron diffraction patterns observed under high vacuum conditions for an SrTiO surface were interpreted in detail while paying special attention to the features of inelastic effects. The surface of the SrTiO was carefully prepared to enforce its termination with single domains of TiO layers at the top. The inelastic patterns were interpreted using analytical models.

The process of preparation of nanostructured thin films in high vacuum can be monitored with the help of reflection high energy diffraction (RHEED). However, RHEED patterns, both observed or recorded, need to be interpreted. The simplest approaches are based on carrying out the Ewald construction for a set of rods perpendicular to the crystal surface.

Single-phase multicomponent perovskite-type cobalt oxide containing five cations in equiatomic amounts on the A-site, namely, (GdNdLaSmY)CoO, has been synthesized via the modified coprecipitation hydrothermal method. Using an original approach for heat treatment, which comprises quenching utilizing liquid nitrogen as a cooling medium, a single-phase ceramic with high configuration entropy, crystallizing in an orthorhombic distorted structure was obtained. It reveals the anomalous temperature dependence of the lattice expansion with two weak transitions at approx.

Changes in stoichiometry, temperature, strain and other parameters dramatically alter properties of LSMO perovskite. Thus, the sensitivity of LSMO may enable control of the magnetic properties of the film. This work demonstrates the capabilities of interface engineering to achieve the desired effects.
